🙏 Many thanks to Jen & Liv of .gear for hosting the Girl Gotta Hike crew last weekend for our 1st ever Hiker Wallet Workshop & Holiday Party in the Bronx!

✂️ We had so much fun picking out our own fabrics, labels, zipper pulls and more to craft lightweight wallets made from scrap material. I was seriously impressed by everyone’s unique designs, especially for those who had never sewn before!

🧵The power of those industrial sewing machines could have been intimidating, but you all took on the challenge with grace!

🎁 The best part is that this was a donation event and all $250 collected was sent to to help protect our local trails!

🥾❤️🌲 Happy 13th Trailversary week to meeeee!!! (And to my pops & hiking partner extraordinaire, LongTime!)

Especially grateful for all the friendships that arose along that 2,000-mile trek toward Katahdin — I’m pretty sure life would be a whole lot more boring if we never met out there. 🥰

Where to next?

❄️ Had a blast with this cool crew up in Peekskill last Saturday! We kicked off the 2024 GGH hiking season with this fun 5-miler at Blue Mountain Reservation.

🎉 We welcomed in a few new faces to the fold, and welcomed back guest hiker, my mom! It was a few of of the hikers first foray onto snow-covered trails, and I can tell they liked it, cuz next month’s Public Transit Series is filling up fast!

☀️ To top it all off, the sun cooperated when we got to the summit, revealing views of Bear Mountain across the river!

🙏 Thanks to everyone for taking the trek to go hiking! Getting out and about in the winter is such a boost to my soul.

🎙🙏Thanks so much to Anna (aka Mudd Butt) for having me as a guest on this week’s episode of The Trail Dames Podcast!

🥾It was a true pleasure talking with her about how I got my start backpacking, my love for being out in nature, and about all the awesome feels I get as a guide when I help a hiker reach a goal!

❤️We also chatted a bunch about how beneficial my solo time out on the Colorado Trail this past Summer was to my soul.

Can’t wait to hit the trails with Anna and her Trail Dames in IRL one day!!

🤩Fall Foliage was the star on Sunday’s Further Afield hike to Minnewaska! I’m soooo glad the rain stopped on Saturday so this small but mighty crew could get out and enjoy the scenery!

On our walk out to Gertrude’s Nose, we were treated to many a fine sight — hawks and turkey vultures floating along in flight, long views out to the valley below, big boulders balancing on cliff edges, and sheer lakeside cliffs shining in the sunlight!

🧡Thanks a ton to Julie and Gillian for giving me a good reason to get outside! It always feels like coming home when I hit the trails at Minnewaska, and to get to share that space with others warms my heart even more.

C’est fini! 486 miles in 31 days from Denver to Durango, wahoo!!

The weather over my last 4 days on trail was a mix, (as it has been this whole trip), but thankfully just one last hail storm, lol!

Had some gorgeous sunrises, enjoyed clear and beautiful views over Indian Ridge, reunited with friends made earlier on trail, and still kept meeting new and awesome other hikers!

I came out here to test my mettle and dang, Colorado Trail, you really did a number on me! I only seriously thought of quitting you twice, but you sucked me back in with your beauty.

Congrats to all CT finishers and anyone who’s ever attempted a thru-hike of this thing!!

After 412 miles on the Colorado Trail, I rewarded myself with a full day off in Silverton, and wow did I need that!

I enjoyed all the best food and drink in town, met a bunch of nice locals got a care package from my trail bestie, and had a great time with the other hikers at The Avon hostel!

But before all of that - passed the highest point on the trail, crossed the 400 mile-mark & enjoyed sweet views above treeline (when it wasn’t raining) of the Weminuche Wilderness.

Just 74 more miles to Durango!!

Days 13-18 on Colorado Trail

Leadville to Twin Lakes to Mt Princeton Resort to Salida - past 1/2 way!!

It’s been ups and downs, highs and lows, hot sun and cold rain. Dang Colorado, what an identity crisis!

The CT has an east and a west route along the collegiate range, and though I’ve heard “west is best” it also comes with a lot of exposed ridges and a few more miles. With the recent weather and the fact I’m a bit behind my plan, I decided to go east. The reward? Hot springs!!

Starting off day 19 from Salida! Enjoyed some great food and brews here!

More miles / more smiles on the Colorado Trail! (Along with the daily dose of “How will Colorado kill me next?”) 😅 photos include: finally hitting the high passes, old arsenals, lush valleys, getting Starbucks at ski resorts, rainbows above treeline, snow?! what?!, people bike this?!?!, almost at the top, waterfalls, and Melanzana!

Colorado Trail days 4-8! Made it to the 100-mile mark (103.7 to Breckenridge to be precise)! Its been a few days if beautiful views above 10,000 feet, meeting other awesome hikers and bike-packers, and also being super humbled by the weather. I’ve never experienced getting caught in a hail storm before this and dang, I’ve still got stuff to learn! Colorado, you’re hard!

Next stop, Leadville!
