I’m on a Rhône River cruise now, but before boarding I spent a few days in Provence, and I’m so glad I did. It felt like walking through a movie set. Every view, every little street, every courtyard was beautiful. I stayed at Hôtel Le Prieuré Baumanière and wandered through the nearby town, soaking it all in. Truly a dream start to the trip.

I took my 5-year-old to Greece and you can too!

Three years ago, we packed our bags, boarded a long-haul flight, and took our kids on a full Greece itinerary from cultural sites to island beaches. And I want to say this loud and clear: if you’re on the fence about traveling with kids, just go.

Here’s what I’ve learned:

Jet lag? Kids handle it better than adults.
Food? Pasta is global, and kids will surprise you with what they’re willing to try.
Long days? Kids thrive with a plan. Tell them what’s ahead and keep some routine in place. They’ll rise to the occasion.
Overwhelmed? Set the tone. If you’re calm and having fun, they will be too.

A few other tips:
• Book guides who bring history to life. Culture can be really engaging for kids with the right storytelling
• Prep before you go. Age-appropriate books or movies make the experience more meaningful
• Build in downtime. Think gelato breaks, beach days, or pool time
