Where to go before the end of the year ✈

As August unfolds, the year takes on a different rhythm – and the months ahead offer some of the most rewarding experiences.

Italy in October moves at a slower pace, as its vineyards glow crimson in the autumn light. India in December is full of wonder, where drifting along the Ganges brings you past Varanasi's ancient temples. When the seasons shift, each destination tells a different story.

Winter in Scandinavia brings crisp air, snow-laden forests and one of nature’s most extraordinary displays.

From November to February, northern Sweden lights up under the glow of the northern lights. Our favourite experiences for a family trip to Sweden include:

❄ Snowshoeing and dogsledding through boreal forests.
🦌 Learning about the Sámi community’s deep connection to the land.
🌲Staying among the treetops of Swedish Sápmi in one of Treehotel's luxurious treehouses, where you wake up to the quiet white of the forest.

How you travel is changing.

Today’s travellers are moving beyond simply visiting new places. They’re seeking opportunities to learn new skills in Costa Rica, finding quiet exclusivity in Norway and transforming global adventures into lasting personal legacies.

And we’ve noticed.

We’ve pulled together five defining travel trends, that won’t just tell you where to go in the coming seasons – but how you’ll experience the world differently.

Travel that teaches
The classroom is no longer confined to four walls. Bring your children’s studies to life on luxury trips, widening their understanding of the world through touring Greece’s legendary sites with expert guides.

Beyond the Big Five
Seeking out the Big Five will always be a favourite – but we’re seeing purpose put firmly at the heart of exploration. Join the Pangolin guardians at work in Mozambique’s Gorongosa National Park and learn about Africa’s greatest community-led conservation efforts.

Deeper connections through your stay
Intimate properties like Amot Norway or Sweden’s Treehotel offer travellers a deeper connection to the surrounding landscapes. Immerse yourself in local customs with artisans and storytellers, or learn more about wild mushrooms and berries on a guided forest walk.

Purpose-led exploration
Skill-building experiences are taking centre stage. In Costa Rica, join marine biologists and get hands-on with conservation projects, such as coral restoration and wildlife tagging.

Grand designs for every generation
For our multi-generational families, we’re delighted to see stays like Flockhill and Lizard Island offering multi-bedroom villas that grant space and privacy, creating a perfect “home-away-from-home” for unforgettable family adventures.

In Europe, some of the most restorative experiences begin outdoors.

In northern Sweden, experience a Nordic fire and ice ritual: warm up inside Aurora Safari Camp’s sauna, before heading outside to plunge into a pool carved from a frozen lake.

Over in the Italian Dolomites, breathe in the fresh scent of spruce as you hike through dense woods and pass thundering waterfalls. Then retreat to Forestis Dolomites for restorative treatments inspired by Celtic healing knowledge.

Embrace nature’s rhythms during a stay at Six Senses Douro Valley in Portugal. Explore the onsite organic garden, and taste seasonal dishes that celebrate the journey from farm to fork.

Across Africa, the wild is never far away. In the depths of montane rainforest, beneath rolling mountains and hidden in bushveld are some of the world’s most incredible wildlife.

Nyungwe National Park, Rwanda
Spot Africa’s largest-known troop of black and white colobus monkeys. As you weave past orchids and ancient ferns, look to the canopy for the turquoise flash of blue turacos.

Vhembe Biosphere Reserve, South Africa
A stay at Few & Far Luvhondo offers exceptional safari experiences. Track leopards along rocky hillsides on game drives. Or search for samango monkeys – South Africa's only forest dwelling guenon.

Odzala-Kokoua National Park, the Congo
Follow your guide across trails shaped by generations of forest elephants. Here, in one of the planet’s most vital ecosystems, you might glimpse rare bongo antelopes or western lowland gorillas foraging among wild fruits.

Christopher Nolan’s 'The Odyssey' showcases some of Greece's most incredible landscapes. But beyond the filming locations lies another side of the Peloponnese – one shaped by local life, traditions and ancient stories.

James, one of our Senior Europe Travel Designers, shares his favourite way to explore the Pelopponese.

“I love to head into the quiet, forested mountains of Arcadia. Arcadiana Village has great hands-on cultural workshops, such as baking traditional sourdough wedding bread, making marmalade or picking garden vegetables for a fresh ratatouille. And staying at a secluded property like Manna Arcadia – my personal favourite – provides a peaceful mountain sanctuary that completely draws you away from the busier coast.”

How will you explore the Peloponnese?

Avana Retreat: your gateway for exploring Vietnam’s northern highlands.

Emerging from tropical rainforest, Avana Retreat overlooks Mai Chau’s tranquil scene of limestone mountains and rolling valleys. Spend your days cooling off in a hidden spring lagoon, dining by candlelit waterfalls or hiking across the mist-glazed valleys.

One of our favourite experiences here is meandering past rice paddies and bamboo groves to reach the Hmong village of Xa Linh. Here, you're welcomed into a local home to learn about traditional customs like rice farming, textile weaving and herding buffaloes.
