Welcome to Mashpi Lodge – your gateway to the incredible biodiversity of Ecuador’s cloud forests.

With endless views over the mist-strewn valleys, forests and hills of the lush Tumbez-Choco-Darien bio-region, Mashpi Lodge is one of our favourite stays in Ecuador.

Spend your days here hiking through the jungles with naturalist guides, listening to the melodies of over 400 bird species echo through the canopy above. Venture through the clouds aboard the sky bike. Navigate trails until you hear the thunderous applause of waterfalls, keeping your eyes peeled for howler monkeys and elusive tayras. When evening falls, savour Ecuadorian dishes that burst with the flavours of the forest in the lodge’s restaurant. Or retreat to the open-air hot tub for a soothing moment amid the greenery.

Across Africa, no two safaris are the same.

A walking safari in Kenya reveals the secret lives of rare wildlife. Follow your Maasai guide across the Laikipia Plateau, feeling your senses sharpen as they read every print left behind by wildlife.

Meanwhile, along rivers and lagoons, your perspective shifts. Glide along the Zambezi on a luxury boat safari to uncover an ecosystem alive with movement. Hippos surface near your canoe. Pel’s fishing owls plunge into the water in pursuit of their prey. With each stroke of the paddle, your guide leads you deeper into small channels, revealing the intricate connections that shape this extraordinary landscape.

In Namibia, Etosha National Park’s endless horizon creates one of Africa’s most extraordinary photographic landscapes. One of the best places for birdwatching, plan your trip between January and February, when summer rains usher in a flurry of birdlife. Capture thousands of flamingos mirrored in the shimmered waters of Africa’s largest salt pan. Across grassy plains, the world’s heaviest flying birds – kori bustards – forage for scuttling beetles.

When 'A Gorilla Story: Told by David Attenborough' dropped on Netflix earlier this month, our team of specialists were exploring Rwanda on a research trip. And while seeing mountain gorilla families roll around the floor of Volcanoes National Park was certainly a highlight, they recommend heading beyond these emerald jungles to experience what the rest of Rwanda has to offer.

Nyungwe National Park
As Africa's oldest montane rainforest, Nyungwe is full of adventure no matter where you turn. Stay at &OnlyRwanda's Nyungwe House to wake up embedded in lush wilderness. Along East Africa’s only forest canopy walk, keep an eye out for colobus monkeys and some of the 300 bird species thriving here. Then hike through the park's myriad of wild orchids, trees and ferns with an expert guide.

Akagera National Park
A boat safari invites you to spot the Big Five from a different perspective. Check into at the exclusive Wilderness Magashi Peninsula along the shores of Lake Rwanyakazinga. Catch sight of elephants, lions and more gathering at the lakeside as your boat hums through the water. At night, game drives reveal the secrets of the park’s nocturnal creatures.

Did you know Puglia is called the breadbasket of Italy? 🍞🫒

With rolling golden fields, vast durum wheat plains and over 60 million olive trees, Puglia is the cornerstone of Italian cuisine. The landscapes here shift from Adriatic coastline to clusters of trull houses, where its native orecchiette pasta is still made by hand.

Our Europe specialists delved into Puglia's traditions last year on a research trip, learning the region's secrets with local masters and artisans. They recommend joining a cheese-maker and learning the art of making delicate burrata, or visiting a family-owned estate to taste their silky olive oil. Then head south to cruise the hidden coves and sugary beaches of the Salento Peninsula in a private yacht, before learning how to make fresh pasta with local nonnas.

As spring blooms across Europe, we’re dreaming of sundrenched days on the best Greek islands. Crete in particular has captured our experts’ hearts, with its pine forests, ancient ruins and hidden coves – as our favourite luxury hotels welcome you back for the season.

With unparalleled views to the sparkling Aegean Sea, Phaea Blue invites you to stay along the quiet coast of Elounda. Take a dip in the pool of your private suite or bask in the seclusion of Phāea Blue Villa. Experiences here are rooted in local traditions: sample Crete’s most treasured ingredient, olive oil, during a tasting in the organic gardens. Then learn the secrets behind making Cretan Dakos salad and aromatic Dolmadakia (vine leaves stuffed with rice and herbs). Or set sail aboard a traditional caique boat, drifting across the Mirabello Gulf as you soak up the setting sun.

Further along the coast, base yourself at Phāea Cretan Malia's deluxe bungalow to enjoy meaningful experiences together as a family, such as learning how to bake traditional Cretan paximadia bread. Or cruise around the island of Spinalonga in the Gulf of Elounda, stepping ashore to explore its ancient sites. Back at Phāea Cretan Malia, child-only clubs will keep your young ones entertained as you relax with a nourishing treatment at the property’s spa.

Postcards from Rapa Nui, one of the world’s most remote destinations.

Set in the middle of the Pacific, midway between Chile and Tahiti, is a realm of otherworldly landscapes and deep connection. Seema, the Head of Latin America Travel Design at Jacada, ventured to this mystical island on her latest research trip. She recommends basing yourself at Explora Travel's Rapa Nui lodge to truly step back into history.

Here, over 800 monolithic moai statues rise from the ground, carved from volcanic tuff. Guided treks lead you along the coast to Rano Kau, the island’s largest volcanic crater, or to ancient cave systems such as Ana Kakenga. Learn from your guide how these caves were used as refuges, classrooms and burial sites as the waves crash against the jagged cliffs below.

Is Rapa Nui on your travel wishlist?

Where to stay in Rwanda: our favourite safari lodge for the most exclusive experience.

Set within a private concession on the shores of Lake Rwanyakazinga in Akagera National Park, Wilderness' Magashi Peninsula offers a rare sense of seclusion.

With just two suites and an exclusive-use villa, life unfolds here at your own pace. Wake to the park’s 500 bird species filling the air with their songs, before embarking on a morning game drive to spot the Big Five. Or explore the wilderness at a different pace with a boating safari, gliding silently through the waterways as you keep your eyes peeled for elephants ambling along the banks.

As night falls, a travelling Kugisha dinner is served with a collection of traditional stories and songs. Back at Magashi Peninsula, spend the night in your rooftop Star Bed, watching the reflection of the stars shimmer on the lake’s still water.

Wake up in the depths of one of the world’s oldest rainforests with a stay at Borneo Rainforest Lodge.

At , mornings begin with the calls of gibbons and Bornean barbets drifting through from your chalet’s private veranda. As the only luxury lodge in the Danum Valley, the wildlife viewings here are unmatched. Your private guide will help you see an array of wildlife on treks through the wilderness, such as sun bears and long-tailed macaques.

Under the cloak of night, game drives reveal clouded leopards slinking through the valley’s lowland forests. Or discover the jungle from a different perspective as you explore the lodge’s 360 metre-long canopy walk.
