3 days in Ithaki is the perfect amount of time to experience one of the quieter and most storied islands in the Ionian Sea 🇬🇷

Day 1 starts in Vathy, the island’s capital, where the harbor is lined with cafés, bakeries, and traditional architecture. Spend the afternoon at Filiatro Beach, one of the island’s most accessible and beautiful beaches, then head up to the hillside village of Perachori for sunset. For dinner, look for a traditional taverna and try tserepa, written in Greek as τσερέπα, a local dish traditionally cooked in a clay vessel.

Day 2 is for Ithaki’s beaches. Make Gidaki Beach your main stop, widely considered one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. Later in the day, drive toward Lefki, a quiet village on the western side of Ithaki, where you can watch the sunset over neighboring Kefalonia.

Day 3 brings in northern Ithaki and the island’s Homeric roots. Visit the Monastery of Panagia Katharon, set high above the island with sweeping views, then stop for coffee or lunch in Frikes, a small fishing village with a simple harbor setting. End the trip in Kioni, one of Ithaki’s most romantic harbor villages and a beautiful final stop before departing.

Ithaki does not have an airport, so planning the route matters. Most travelers fly into Kefalonia Airport and take a ferry from Sami to Ithaki, or arrive by ferry from mainland Greece through Patras or Astakos.

Sifnos, Greece 📍🇬🇷

One of the most beloved islands in the Cyclades, Sifnos! Known for having some of the best food in Greece. It is a strong choice for those who want a Greek island with beauty, tradition, and a serious culinary identity.

Sifnos is especially famous for local dishes like μαστέλο, a slow-cooked lamb dish traditionally made with red wine and dill, and ρεβιθάδα, a traditional chickpea stew often baked slowly in local clay pots. The island’s food culture is a major part of what makes Sifnos stand out within the Cyclades.

The island is also home to one of its most iconic landmarks, the cliffside Church of the Seven Martyrs, set above the water in one of the most photographed spots on Sifnos. Along the coast, beaches like Platis Gialos, Vathy, and Kamares offer beautiful places to swim, dine, and spend time by the sea.

Sifnos can be reached by ferry from Athens’ Piraeus port, usually taking around 2.5 to 5.5 hours depending on the ferry. It also connects easily with nearby islands like Milos, Paros, and Serifos, making it a beautiful addition to a Cyclades itinerary. Sifnos is the kind of island that brings together food, beaches, villages, Cycladic charm, and a more thoughtful side of Greek island travel!

The largest of the Dodecanese Islands and the fourth-largest island in Greece, Rhodes is known for its medieval history, ancient ruins, beaches, and one of the most impressive Old Towns in Europe. It is the kind of island that brings together history, coastline, culture, and resort-style travel in one destination.

At the heart of the island is the Medieval City of Rhodes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for the Street of the Knights and the Palace of the Grand Master. Rhodes was also once home to the Colossus of Rhodes, a massive bronze statue of the sun god Helios, written in Greek as Ήλιος, which stood near the harbor and was considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World before it was destroyed by an earthquake.

Beyond Rhodes Town, the island is home to Lindos, where the Acropolis of Lindos rises above the village and the sea.
