3 days in Athens is the perfect amount of time to experience the city properly before heading off to the islands 🚢 🇬🇷
Day 1 starts with a central stay, somewhere like Elia Ermou Athens Hotel, so you’re within easy reach of Syntagma Square, the metro, and some of the city’s most walkable neighborhoods. From there, Athens opens up best on foot: Plaka, Anafiotika, and an Acropolis sunset to end the nigh on a high note.
Day 2 is for the heart of downtown. Monastiraki, the surrounding backstreets, and the kind of wandering that leads to good coffee, long lunches, and some of the most memorable corners of Athens. It’s one of those cities that reveals itself slowly, especially once you step slightly beyond the most obvious paths.
Day 3 should stay a little lighter. A slower morning, time near the National Garden, one last walk through a favorite neighborhood, and a lunch that stretches a little longer than planned. That’s usually when Athens feels at its best!
