Well, it's been a long time since my last post, but with the spring season upon us, I'm excited to get out with my camera to capture the transition! So to get in that mood, here is one of my favorite backlit flower photos. The soft, morning sunshine created a nice glow in the background, and I focused the shot so that both the background meadow and foreground flower would be out-of-focus. Tiny dew drops on the blades of grass were a nice touch.

We've been treated to some chilly weather recently here in northern NJ...so here is a lovely daisy for those of you who would rather pass right by winter into spring. This shot involved getting up early in the summer so that the rising sun created interesting lighting on the flower and also so that dewdrops from the night before had not disappeared yet. I also used a macro lens that allowed me to get pretty close to the daisy, capturing some of the finer details of the flower.

The Great Smokies of Tennessee are a great place to both step back in time and experience some outstanding scenery. This waterwheel and grist mill, located in the picturesque Cades Cove area of the national park, dates back to the 1870s. On this particular day, just the right amount of water was flowing down the flume to create lots of mini cascades all over the locked-in-place wheel.

This 'Babbling Brook in Autumn' photo was taken a few years ago while hiking on a slightly overcast fall day. The colors of the leaves reflected nicely on the Flat Brook in Stokes State Forest, and this was a great place to sit back for a few moments and enjoy the peace.
