I know it is crossing the street, but we take for granted that it is the law here for cars to stop when someone is in the cross walk.

🐧 Antarctica is one of those destinations that feels almost unreal… but what does it actually take to GO there?

If Antarctica is on your life list, here are a few things you may not know:

πŸ“… Start planning early. Popular dates can require planning as much as 18 months in advance.

❄️ Antarctica’s main travel season runs from roughly November through March β€” and when you go can change what you see, from incredible ice and penguin activity to peak whale watching later in the season.

πŸ—“οΈ Most trips are around 10–14 days, with roughly 5–10 days actually exploring Antarctica.

🚒 Most expedition cruises sail from Ushuaia, Argentina, crossing the famous Drake Passage β€” about two days each way.

✈️ BUT… did you know you can fly over the Drake instead? Some fly-cruise expeditions fly from Punta Arenas, Chile, to King George Island in about two hours, where you board your expedition ship. It generally costs more and flights are weather dependent, but it’s an option many people don’t even realize exists!

Antarctica isn't your typical cruise vacation. It takes some planning, but between the wildlife, glaciers and scenery, this is truly a once-in-a-lifetime kind of adventure. 🐧🧊

So tell me…

🌊 Brave the Drake?
✈️ Fly over it?
πŸ˜‚ Or is Antarctica WAY too cold for you?

✈️ Could something totally innocent get you pulled aside for extra TSA screening?

According to an article from Daily Passport, updated April 14, 2026, there are a few everyday things that may draw extra attention at airport security β€” and honestly, a couple surprised me! πŸ‘€

One-way tickets, certain clothing, nervous behaviors, talking or joking too much with TSA officers, and even buying an airline ticket with cash can potentially play a part.

Of course, extra screening can also be completely random β€” but it never hurts to know what *might* get you a little extra attention.

I think I’m safe… unless talking too much counts. πŸ˜‚βœˆοΈ

🚒 CARNIVAL REWARDS IS HERE β€” SO WHAT DOES IT ACTUALLY MEAN?

Carnival officially launched its new Carnival Rewards program September 1, and there's a lot to unpack.

Here's the SIMPLE version. πŸ‘‡

Think of Carnival Rewards as ONE umbrella with THREE things being tracked:

🎁 REWARDS POINTS β€” WHAT YOU CAN SPEND

You earn Rewards Points from eligible Carnival purchases, including your cruise fare, gratuities and eligible purchases onboard.

You earn 3 Rewards Points for every $1 spent.

Those points can then be redeemed toward things like future Carnival cruises, shore excursions, specialty dining, spa treatments and other eligible experiences.

⭐ STATUS QUALIFYING STARS β€” YOUR LOYALTY LEVEL

At the same time, eligible Carnival spending earns 3 Status Qualifying Stars for every $1 spent.

Those Stars determine your Carnival status:

πŸ”΄ Red β€” Enrollment
🟑 Gold β€” 10,000 Stars
βšͺ Platinum β€” 50,000 Stars
πŸ’Ž Diamond β€” 100,000 Stars

Unlike lifetime cruise days, these Stars are earned within qualifying periods. The first runs from September 1, 2026 through December 31, 2028.

🎰 AND YES...THE CASINO COUNTS!

Casino players can earn toward BOTH status and rewards.

Every casino point you EARN counts toward your Status Qualifying Stars β€” even if you redeem those casino points onboard for FunPlay.

But only casino points LEFT at the end of your sailing convert to Carnival Rewards Points.

So if you've already redeemed a casino point for FunPlay, you can't redeem that same point again as a Carnival Rewards Point β€” **but it STILL counts toward earning your Carnival status.** ⭐

🚒 WHAT ABOUT ALL THOSE YEARS YOU'VE ALREADY SAILED?

Carnival hasn't stopped counting them.

Your lifetime days sailed are tracked separately through Carnival's Milestone Recognition program.

So really, think of it as THREE counters under the Carnival Rewards umbrella:

🎁 Rewards Points = What you can spend
⭐ Status Stars = Your Red, Gold, Platinum or Diamond status
🚒 Lifetime Days = Your sailing milestones

The BIG change?

Your loyalty status is no longer based primarily on how many days you've cruised. What you SPEND with Carnival β€” and even your casino play β€” can now play a major role in the status you earn.

Now I want to hear from my Carnival cruisers...

Do you LIKE the new system where spending can help you reach status?

Or do you think loyalty status should be based on how much you've actually CRUISED? πŸ‘‡

✈️ DID YOU KNOW THIS???

A 3+ hour flight delay while traveling to or from Europe could potentially mean €250, €400 or even €600 PER PERSON in compensation under EU261. 😳

And yes β€” Americans can qualify too.

There are rules about which flights are covered, which airline is operating the flight, how late you arrive at your final destination, and what caused the delay β€” so swipe through the graphics for the important details.

πŸ’‘ One thing I definitely didn’t know: You don’t necessarily need to pay a claims company to handle it. Start by filing directly with the airline that operated your flight.

This is one of those travel tips you may never need…

…but if you DO, you could be very glad you saved it. πŸ˜‚βœˆοΈπŸ’°

SAVE this for your next European trip & SHARE it with your travel buddies!
