✈️💡 Travel Tip Tuesday: Hard-Sided vs. Soft-Sided Luggage 🧳

One of the most common travel questions I hear is:

“Which is better—hard shell or soft-sided luggage?”

The truth is… there isn’t one right answer. It depends on how you travel!

🧳 Hard-Sided Luggage
✅ Better protection for fragile items
✅ Water resistant and easy to clean
✅ Great for checked bags and cruises
❌ Less flexible when overpacked
❌ No exterior pockets

🎒 Soft-Sided Luggage
✅ Expandable and flexible
✅ Exterior pockets for easy access
✅ Easier to fit into overhead bins and car trunks
❌ Less protection for breakables
❌ Fabric can absorb moisture and show wear over time

⭐ My personal tip:

I prefer hard-sided luggage for checked bags because it protects souvenirs and handles rough baggage handling well. For carry-ons, I like soft-sided luggage because the outside pockets and flexibility make traveling a little easier.

Neither one is wrong—it’s all about finding what works best for your style of travel.

🚗✈️ Driving to your cruise port? Or driving to the airport before your flight?

Before you automatically park at the port or airport, let me share one of my favorite money-saving travel tips.

I almost always compare parking options before I book. Personally, I’ve had good luck with Way.com, Airport Parking Reservations, and Park Sleep Fly. I’ve used all three over the years and have found some great deals.

A couple of recent examples:

🚢 Tampa Cruise
✔️ 5 days of parking for just $33

🚢 Fort Lauderdale Cruise
✔️ 4 days of parking for just $28

Now compare that to parking directly at the port:

💰 Port Tampa Bay: Around $18 per day

💰 Port Everglades: Around $20 per day

That’s a savings of roughly $50–$60 for just a few minutes of planning.

🚐 Lisa’s Travel Tip: Always verify shuttle service before you book. I love finding a great parking deal, but I love it even more when someone else drives me from the parking lot to the ship or airport. 😂

Some sites even offer hotel + parking packages, which can be a great option for early flights or pre-cruise stays.

Saving money on parking doesn’t sound exciting… until you realize that’s another $50–$60 you can spend on vacation fun.

Whether that’s a shore excursion, a fancy dinner, or a few extra spins in the adult arcade… I won’t judge. 😎🎰
