Closing out the week with some great news to share! 🌍

First up, so excited to announce that a long term client is officially headed to Belize next spring! Resort reserved, deposit paid and the countdown to paradise has officially begun. Belize has been on her radar for a while and we finally made it happen. Cannot wait to see her family to experience this stunning destination! 🌊

And in other exciting news, another client is getting very close to locking in a Mediterranean cruise for spring 2028 on MSC World America. Working through the final details on MSC's newest ship and hoping to have something official to share very soon. I cannot wait to get this one locked in!

Two great conversations moving in the right direction this week and I am here for all of it!

Now I'm closing the laptop, enjoying the weekend and coming back Monday ready to make more travel dreams happen.

Flashback Friday and today I want to talk about something that doesn't get nearly enough credit as a travel experience.

Gardens. 🌿

Hear me out before you scroll past.

Some of my most unexpectedly beautiful travel moments have happened in botanical gardens and green spaces. And two very different garden experiences have stuck with me more than most.

First, Garvan Woodland Gardens in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Yes, Arkansas. And before you underestimate it let me tell you about the tulip display they do each spring. Thousands of tulips blooming among towering trees in the most stunning natural woodland setting you can imagine. It doesn't look real. It looks like someone painted it. And it's right here in our own backyard.

Then there are the Chinese gardens scattered across the United States. From the Pacific Northwest to the Midwest to the South, I've visited several and what strikes me every single time is how completely different each one feels despite sharing the same cultural roots. The architecture, the water features, the carefully placed stones and plantings. Each one is its own world of calm and intention in the middle of an American city.

Here's your travel tip: wherever you travel, find the botanical garden or the public green space. They are almost always free or very low cost, they are rarely crowded, and they tell the story of a place and its people in a way that's completely different from any museum or landmark. Some of my most peaceful and memorable travel moments have happened in places most tourists walk right past.

Slow down. Find the garden. You won't regret it. 🌸

Retirement is one of the most significant milestones a person can reach and it deserves to be celebrated in a way that matches the magnitude of what you've accomplished. Decades of work. Decades of planning. Decades of saying "someday when I retire."

Well. Someday is here. And I want to help you make it count.

The retirement trips I love planning most are the ones where clients finally give themselves permission to go ALL IN on the destination they've been talking about for years. The African safari. The European river cruise. The Alaska adventure. The bucket list trip that kept getting pushed to "after retirement."

Here's your travel tip: retirement travel is actually one of the sweetest spots in the travel calendar. You have something most travelers desperately wish for: flexibility. No school calendars to work around. No peak season constraints. The ability to travel in shoulder season when crowds are smaller, prices are better, and the experience is richer.

That flexibility is worth a lot and a good travel advisor knows exactly how to use it to your advantage.

You don't call yourself a guru without receipts. So let me show you mine.

Alaska. Let's talk about why I know this destination better than most.

It started in 2009 with my Princess Alaska Expert certification, one of the most comprehensive destination training programs in the cruise industry covering everything from glacier viewing to wildlife encounters to the best shore excursions in every port. Then came the Princess Alaska Lodges series, six modules covering the land side of Alaska in detail. Then the Fairbanks extension covering Midnight Sun and Denali experiences. Then the Alaska Wildlife Expert certification. And the CLIA and industry webinars that keep my Alaska knowledge current every single season.

But here's what the certifications don't capture: the understanding of HOW to experience Alaska that only comes from years of planning trips there and talking to clients who come back absolutely transformed by what they saw.

Alaska is not a one size fits all destination. The couple who wants to see glaciers from the deck of a ship has completely different needs than the adventure traveler who wants to kayak in Kenai Fjords or the bucket list traveler who wants to add Denali to their National Park count. Knowing which experience fits which traveler is the real expertise.

Here's what I know that matters for YOUR trip: the best Alaska cruise itineraries, the right time of year for wildlife versus glacier viewing, which shore excursions are worth every penny and which ones you can skip, and how to combine a cruise with a land extension for the full Alaska experience.

There's a bucket list experience that most people don't even know you can do on a cruise.

Chasing the Northern Lights. 🌌

That's right. You don't have to bundle up in a remote cabin in Iceland or stand in a frozen field in Norway hoping the sky cooperates. You can watch one of nature's most breathtaking light shows from the deck of a cruise ship, warm drink in hand, with all the comforts of modern cruising around you.

Northern Lights cruises typically sail through Norway, Iceland, Greenland and other Arctic destinations during the peak viewing season of October through March. Ships position themselves in areas with the best chance of clear skies and low light pollution, and many offer onboard experts who track aurora activity and alert guests when conditions are prime.

Here's your travel tip: the Northern Lights are never guaranteed since they depend on solar activity and clear skies. But cruise itineraries designed specifically for aurora viewing give you multiple nights and multiple locations to maximize your chances. Far better odds than a single land based trip to one fixed spot.

Imagine standing on the deck of a ship watching green and purple lights dance across a Arctic sky above you. That's the kind of moment that stays with you forever.

Let me paint you a picture of the French Riviera.

Glamorous seaside towns clinging to dramatic cliffs above the Mediterranean. Colorful fishing villages that have barely changed in a century. Markets overflowing with lavender, olives, and cheese that will make you want to move there immediately. And that light. That famous soft golden French Riviera light that painters have been chasing for centuries.

Nice. Cannes. Antibes. Èze. Monaco just a short drive away for an afternoon of pure glamour.

Here's your travel tip: the French Riviera is magnificent in May and June before the peak summer crowds arrive and again in September when the weather is still beautiful but the beaches breathe again. If you're building a France itinerary, don't stop at Paris. The south of France is a completely different and equally magnificent experience.

Twenty years of helping people plan trips has taught me something I didn't expect.

The trips that matter most aren't always the biggest ones.

Sometimes it's the long weekend that finally happened after three years of talking about it. The anniversary dinner in a city you've never visited. The graduation trip that turned into the last big family vacation before everything changed. The solo adventure a newly retired woman took because she finally could.

Travel doesn't have to be grand to be meaningful. It just has to be intentional.

Travel tip Saturday! 🌍

Here's one that could save you from one of the most common and most avoidable travel headaches:

Download your travel documents BEFORE you leave home.

Boarding passes. Hotel confirmations. Tour vouchers. Cruise documents. Restaurant reservations. All of it.

Here's why this matters: international data plans are not always reliable and airport and hotel WiFi can be spotty at exactly the wrong moment. The last thing you want is to be standing at a check in desk frantically trying to load a confirmation email with three people behind you in line.

Download everything to your phone before you leave. Screenshot the important stuff. Email yourself a folder with all your documents as backups. And if you're traveling with a partner, make sure you BOTH have copies of everything.

Takes about ten minutes at home. Saves an enormous amount of stress on the road.

Flashback Friday and today I want to talk about something that stops you no matter where you are in the world.

A really good sunset. 🌅

I've been lucky enough to catch some breathtaking ones over the years and what strikes me most is how completely different they feel depending on where you're standing.

Driving back through Arizona toward Phoenix from the Grand Canyon, no plan, no viewpoint, just the open road and suddenly the sky explodes into the most incredible shades of pink and purple you've ever seen. The kind of sunset that makes you pull over just to stand there and stare. The desert does things with light that I genuinely don't have words for.

Flashback to November 2023 on the deck of Allure of the Seas, sailing away from CocoCay as the sun dropped toward the horizon. Nothing but open ocean ahead, warm Caribbean air, and that particular kind of peace that only happens when you're on a ship watching land disappear behind you. That one lives in my memory as one of the most perfectly contented moments I've ever had while traveling.

And then London this past spring. Standing on the Thames with the bridges stretching out in both directions as the sky turned golden over the city. Tower Bridge. Millennium Bridge. The whole skyline doing something completely unexpected and beautiful in that soft evening light that London somehow pulls off even when you're not expecting it.

Here's your travel tip: stop chasing the perfect planned sunset viewpoint. Some of the most breathtaking ones happen when you're just moving through a place and the sky decides to show off. Look up. Pull over. Stay on deck a little longer. You never know when the moment is coming.

This week has been such a great reminder of why I love what I do. 🌍

One client. Two very different travel needs. Both handled.

First she needed Disneyland tickets for an upcoming October visit. Quick, easy, done. That's the kind of thing most people don't even think to ask a travel advisor for but I was able to source those and get her taken care of fast.

Then in the same week she was ready to talk about something bigger. A Mediterranean cruise next summer aboard Celebrity Ascent for two couples. June 2027. Booked and under deposit by the weekend.

From theme park tickets to a European cruise in the same week. That's the range of what I do and honestly I love every bit of it.

Here's your travel tip: your travel advisor isn't just for the big bucket list trips. I'm here for all of it. The quick ticket purchase, the weekend getaway research, the dream cruise that's been on your list for years. No trip is too small or too big.
