Well, Ireland… you’ve officially changed my mind about Irish food! 🇮🇪🍀🥣🐠🦪

Traditional Irish food earned a reputation for being bland due to a heavy reliance on simple, locally grown root vegetables, potatoes, and dairy shaped by centuries of poverty, geography, and limited access to spices.

But turns out the Irish really know their way around a kitchen!

Day 9: last day in Ireland. Today we ventured from Galway back to Dublin. We stopped half way for a pint in Athlone at Sean’s Bar, 🍺 the oldest pub in Ireland 🇮🇪 then to a cute cafe for fish and chips. 🐟
Once back in Dublin near the airport, we settled into our hotel room with a movie and a bottle of wine. Early rise tomorrow to fly home. ✈️

Day 8: Today we spent the day in Galway. We strolled around the streets, ate chowder, 🥣bought some jewelry, hit some pubs, 🍺 took a nap 😴 then went to a great seafood restaurant for dinner 🐟🦪and hit another pub or two for music afterwards. 🎼
A great day in Galway!🇮🇪
Tomorrow we “make tracks” back to Dublin.

Day 7: Enroute to Galway. Today we left Di**le and headed to Galway. It was a long ride but our driver Podge broke up the trip with some fun adventures. We hit the Village of Adare on our way to Cliffs of Moher.
Then headed to a sheepdog demonstration.
On to Galway for some amazing local seafood and pubs for the next two days.

Day 6: Headed to Di**le peninsula today.
Took a scenic drive along Slea Head Drive.
Made a bunch of scenic stops along the way, stopped at a local sheep farm and was able to hold the baby sheep. 🐑 The owner offered us homemade ‘shine and a delicious cake. 🍰
We walked around the town of Di**le, enjoyed fresh fish 🐟 then ended the night listening to a great duo playing music 🎼 in the hotel bar.

Day 5 - Today we took a horse and carriage ride to Ross Castle in Killarney National Park. 🐴 The park is a peaceful, beautiful 25,000+ acres space with lakes, mountains and ancient trees. We took a scenic boat cruise around one of the lakes taking in all the scenery. ⛴️
From here we took a drive to the quaint town of Kenmare where we found streets lined with restaurants, pubs and shops. We had a lunch of seafood chowder and brown bread. 🥣
We stopped at the Kenmare Stone Circle and Ferry Tree where we tied wishes to trees.
We took a side trip off the regular route to buy some of Ireland’s best shortbread cookies! 🍪
Then we stopped at several scenic stops traveling through the mountains including waterfalls, a view of the three rivers in the national park, the Muckross Mansion and Gardens. 🌺
Finished the night off with delicious salmon 🍣and a nightcap in the hotel bar. 🍷
Tomorrow morning it’s off to Di**le Peninsula.

Day 4 (a little late) 😆
We headed to Killarney. We toured the Cahir Castle, 🏰 The Blarney Castle and Gardens, had fish and chips in a local pub, 🐟found another small pub filled with locals, great music and drinks. 🍻🎻
After climbing the 120+ narrow winding steps to the top, the clouds came and it poured rain on us. I did end up kissing the Blarney Stone, 💋even though I kept saying I was just going up to see it. 🙂 Getting to the top is not for the faint of heart!
