I love the whole concept of this post-apocalyptic book. People are living in a silo underground with strict rules and assigned jobs to keep order. The silo is keeping them safe from toxic air above ground.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5
🧽 Everyone has a task and role. There’s an order to living in an underground silo. You don’t ask to go outside.
🧽 I love the whole rhythm of the silo. It’s interesting to hear how much of a trek it is and the layers of caste according to position in the silo. The author does a great job of world-building and ramping up intensity about what it would be like to live in this vertical world.
🧽 As the cleanings continue to occur, providing entertainment, hope, and dread all at once in this fragile community, someone changes the routine. This upsets the whole balance. Things aren’t as they appear. Someone is hiding things. Is it for the good of the people and preserving the delicate balance or is it suppression in its cruelest form?
🧽 As an uprising mounts, I feel like the author lost touch with the characters. The pace got slow and lost momentum, and I felt disconnected from the characters toward the end. It was a letdown and left me with too many questions.
