The iconic Ogunquit Beach once had a beach pavilion. Notice this photograph from 1910; the pavilion burnt down in 1941.
Long before the fire, the Perkins Bathing Pavilion was the ultimate summer hotspot. It's incredible to look closely and see early vintage cars parked right on the sand and beachgoers dressed in full Edwardian attire!While the modern Norseman Resort stands near this spot today, the timeless charm of Ogunquit remains exactly the same.

In 1952 he was 84 yrs old. When asked how old he was he would respond "Well, I can vote." Once a tourist mentioned to Henry that there sure were lots of characters around the Cove and he said, "Ayup.
And they all go home on Labor Day." To another Summer in the books. Happy, safe Labor Day weekend Everyone!

Take a look at this incredible vintage photograph of the fisherman shacks in Perkins Cove, Ogunquit, Maine! Long before it became the bustling, picturesque destination filled with unique shops and premier dining we know today, the Cove was a rugged, hardworking fishing hub.Built right on the shore, these simple shacks served as the ultimate home base for local lobstermen and fishermen. They were used to store essential gear—wooden traps, hand-carved buoys, tarred ropes, and the tools needed to brave the Atlantic. At high tide, fishing boats and traditional Ogunquit dories would pull right up to these banks to unload their daily catch.By the late 19th and early 20th centuries, this exact rustic charm caught the eye of prominent artists like Charles Woodbury. Attracted by the raw beauty of the weathered wood against the coastal landscape, they established the famous Ogunquit Art Colony right alongside the working fishermen.

The Nubble Lighthouse — one of America’s most photographed lighthouses!

No trip to Ogunquit is complete without a quick drive to Nubble Light in York. Perched dramatically on its little rocky island, the Cape Neddick Light is one of the most photographed lighthouses in the country—and it’s easy to see why!

Take the scenic drive from Ogunquit, enjoy the spectacular ocean views, and spend some time around Sohier Park. And while you’re there, grab an ice cream! 🍦

The Nubble is a great photo opportunity any time of day—sunrise, midday, sunset, or under a dramatic Maine sky. 🌊📷

Sunny days, cool, crisp mornings, and that unmistakable salt spray in the air. The crowds begin to thin, the ocean feels a little different, and the Marginal Way is at its best. A perfect time to take a walk, breathe in the fresh ocean air, and enjoy Ogunquit.

Before Perkins Cove became the bustling destination we know today, getting across the water meant using a manually operated drawbridge—and this photograph captures that earlier era beautifully.

The wooden bridge was raised by hand to allow the traditional Ogunquit dories and other small boats to pass through the cove. You can see the simple system of beams, pulleys and cables that made it possible. No motors or modern controls!

There’s nothing quite like a stroll along the Marginal Way in Ogunquit. Named for the “margin” where the land meets the crashing Atlantic surf, it’s a living showcase of coastal resilience.
Take a close look at the twisted, wind-swept junipers and the distinctive coastal plants shaped by salt spray, strong winds, thin rocky soil, and constant exposure to the Atlantic.
Battered by countless powerful storms, these trees and plants cling to the rocky ledges, proving that beauty can grow in even the harshest conditions.

Most people see Perkins Cove during the day-enjoying lunch with a view, walking the footbridge, and exploring the shops. But Perkins Cove is a true, working harbor. While the rest of the town sleeps, the F/V Karamel is casting off at 4:45 this morning, heading out into the dark Atlantic.
