Fifty years ago, in 1976, Paul Lynde’s Halloween Special aired on television, featuring a special appearance by KISS and guests including Margaret Hamilton, best remembered as the Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz. Paul Lynde was a frequent visitor to and a loyal patron of the Front Porch piano bar. Margaret Hamilton also appeared at the Ogunquit Playhouse, giving both of these television personalities a special connection to our little town. Who remembers seeing Mr. Lynde in Ogunquit?

Did you know that in nearby York, Maine, a woman known as the “Witch of York” is buried in the Old Burying Ground?
Her name was Mary Nasson, and she died on August 18, 1774, at just 29 years old.
According to local legend, she was an herbalist and healer. After her passing, a massive stone slab was placed over her grave—supposedly to keep her from rising from the dead!

Take a look back at 128 years ago at what use to be called, Perkins Square in Ogunquit, Maine. This vintage postcard captures the village streets, early automobiles, trolley tracks.
Today, this historic corner is remembered for the now-famous Front Porch Piano Bar, where music and good times continue to bring people together. Ogunquit has changed over the years, but its village character lives on!

This real estate advertisement from Previews Incorporated — The National Real Estate Clearing House from 1951 features a grand Colonial country home on Pine Hill Road, owned by Mr. Channing Hare. The property included 11 rooms, four tiled bathrooms, beautifully landscaped gardens, a stone driveway, and a four-car garage.
The asking price was $45,000!
