Part-time
(3PK9) K9 HANDLER
Miami, Florida
GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Handler is responsible with screening cargo in compliance with TSA rules and regulations. The Handler is required to complete a 4–8 weeks minimum team training course and certification prior to mobilization to the assigned location.
GENERAL DUTIES
Participate in CCSP related training to search cargo and identify explosive threats.
Always maintains all TSA and Phantom K9 3PK9 certification standards.
Represents a professional appearance while in uniform and working.
Assist cargo representatives on any issues related to X-Ray, physical search, and explosive trace detection as needed.
Perform Handler duties while commanding a trained explosive working dog.
Handler will be responsible for maintaining weekly and monthly training records.
Handler will be responsible for care, maintenance, and wellbeing of assigned canine.
Handler must maintain all job-related certifications and required security clearances.
Reviews daily completed assignments including upload of all videos.
Must be able to arrive to shift on time
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be able to obtain a Known Traveler Number (KTN)
A US Citizen
Must have adequate transportation to transport assigned Canine and Crate (inside the vehicle) to/from assigned work location; transportation must have operational climate control
Must be able to pass the applicable 3PK9 Testing and Certifications for the program within four to eight weeks of employment.
Must have a valid driver's license and a clear driving record for the last five years
Ability to care and house a K9 during and after assignment.
Able to work outside normal duty hours including nights and weekends.
DESIREABLE TRAITS & EXPERIENCE
Must be professional and have professional appearance.
Bilingual a plus but not necessary
Able to perform tasks with minimal oversight.
Attention to detail, and able to multitask.
Military service, preferably in a combat deployment; or
Military K9 handler role, with a full military handler course.
Law enforcement experience with a completed accredited Law Enforcement Academy
