$7.25 is a poverty wage.

Our minimum wage has been stuck in 2009. It wasn’t enough then, and it’s only gotten harder to afford rent, food, gas, medical bills, and everything else. If SQ 832 passes, 1 in 8 Oklahomans will see an immediate raise in wages.

Benefits of a living wage:
- keeps up with inflation
- increases job satisfaction
- strengthens local economy
- financial security = safer communities

Let’s build an economy that works for workers! Vote YES to raise the minimum wage on June 16, 2026

❤️THANK YOU CHOCTAW NATION❤️

In December, ICE began scouting an old Big Lots warehouse in Durant, Oklahoma for a new detention facility. This Wednesday, the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma swooped in and purchased the 1.24-million-square-foot warehouse instead. According to Project Salt Box, this move prevents an estimated 8,500 detention beds from being created.

Thank you Choctaw Nation for protecting the community!❤️

NEWWWWW!🤯🤯

We recently did a social experiment with a few of our staff members. We blindfolded them, dropped them off on the edge of downtown, took their phones, handed them a few quarters, a heavy bag, and gave them one challenge,

Make it to their case management appointment by noon and a job interview by 1 PM.

This is the reality many of our unhoused neighbors face daily. In some parts of the city, it takes 4–5 hour walk just to reach a shower or basic services, especially for those living far from downtown.

When we first launched BeHeard, we met people who hadn’t showered in over 90 days. That’s why our mobile shower and laundry trailers are so critical we bring dignity and access directly to where people are without duplicating services.

We even invited our friend John, who is currently experiencing homelessness, to watch the experiment and give live commentary. His insight? Unfiltered, powerful, and real.

This video is coming soon. Stay tuned.

Do you think they made it in time?

Full circle moment 🥹🧡

This week, we had a surprise visitor during outreach our friend Levana stopped by! It’s been a while since we’ve seen her, and that’s because she’s now housed and thriving!!

She shared with our team all the good things happening in her life and how much the mobile showers meant to her on her journey. She even told us she’s writing a book and wants to include BeHeard in part of it. We told her when the time comes, we’d love to host her book release party!

This was hands down the highlight of our week!!

It may seem small, but access to a shower can be the beginning of something so much bigger. It’s more than feeling clean, it’s the access to be clean. It’s a reset. A fresh start. Like turning the page to a new chapter.

We love moments like this and we’ve had so many this year. When our formerly unhoused neighbors come back to share their wins, it reminds us exactly why we do this! 🧡

“How do I turn the water on? Sorry, it’s been a while…”

A moment we’ll never forget, spoken by one of our neighbors experiencing homelessness as they stepped into our mobile shower trailer.

A shower may seem small, but it means everything..

When we first learned that many people experiencing homelessness hadn’t had a shower in over 3 months, we knew something had to change. In some parts of Tulsa and OKC, the nearest shower and shelter is a 4–5 hour walk. While many of us walk just a few steps to our own bathroom, thousands walk miles..just for the chance to feel clean.

And it’s not just those without shelter. We serve individuals who have a home but no running water. One guest lives outside on wooden pallets, comes to BeHeard to shower, then heads straight to work.

Now ask yourself..
Could you go 90 days without a shower?
Would your workplace let you keep showing up?
How would you feel mentally, physically, emotionally?

A shower restores dignity, confidence, and a sense of humanity.

It matters. For all. Regardless of address.
