Hi! We’re Ross & Doug. 👋

We’re the owners—and your guides—here at South Sound Kayak Tours.

We realized many of you know South Sound Kayak Tours, but you may not know much about the two people behind it, so we thought we’d introduce ourselves.

Between the two of us, we’ve spent more than 15 years guiding paddlers of all experience levels. Before moving to the Pacific Northwest, we owned and operated a successful kayak tour company on the East Coast for nearly a decade, and today we bring that same passion and experience to every tour.

After 10 years on the East Coast, we were ready for a new adventure of our own. We wanted the chance to experience everything the Pacific Northwest had to offer. So we sold our business, packed up, headed west, and settled in Olympia with no plans of starting another kayak tour company.

Well… that didn’t last very long. 😂

Once we started exploring the waters of South Sound, we quickly realized there was one thing missing—we missed sharing these incredible places with other people. The wildlife, peaceful coves, towering evergreens, and unforgettable sunsets reminded us why we fell in love with guiding in the first place.

We didn’t move here to start another business—we moved here for a new chapter in our lives. South Sound Kayak Tours happened because we simply couldn’t stay away from doing what we love.

As a small, locally owned business, our goal is simple: to create fun, safe, memorable experiences while helping people discover this incredible corner of Washington from the best seat in the house… a kayak.

Whether you’ve joined us on the water, recommended us to a friend, or simply followed along on our journey, THANK YOU. Supporting a small business like ours truly means the world to us.
