I thought we were just signing up to learn how to ice skate

Like cute little lessons.
A little balance. Maybe some hot chocolate after.

Next thing I know it’s “stick and puck.”
Then it’s a team.
Then it’s tournaments.
Then it’s gear… WHY IS THERE SO MUCH GEAR?!

Helmets. Gloves. Pads. Extra pads. Backup everything.
And somehow… we still don’t have what we need.

Now I live at the rink.
I know everyone’s schedule.
I have a “rink jacket.”

And my bank account?

On life support.

I didn’t sign up for hockey…
Hockey signed ME up. 🫠🏒🫶🏻

Mike Battershell is the first to admit that prior to his oldest son getting involved in lacrosse six years ago, he knew little to nothing about the sport. Now, however, he’s a dyed-in-the-wool lacrosse parent and on the board of the Omaha Lacrosse Club where his kids got their start.

“I didn’t grow up playing lacrosse. I didn’t know anything about it, so we took Roe to a free clinic Omaha Lacrosse Club was putting on,” he said. “It ended up fitting Roe really well. He fell in love with it.”

For uninitiated parents, Battershell suggests checking out an introductory clinic, just as he did to allow his boys to get a trial run at the game that has become their new passion.
