A lovely time spent at the Black Star Gate in Accra, Ghana 🇬🇭.
The Black Star Gate is more than a monument. It’s a bold symbol of Ghana’s independence, Pan-African identity, and national pride. Commissioned by Kwame Nkrumah, it reflects a moment when a nation chose its own path, fully and unapologetically.
Completed in 1961, not too long after independence was gained on 6 March 1957, the structure carries that sense of fresh freedom. You’ll notice the inscription “AD 1957” and the powerful national motto: Freedom and Justice. Simple words, but they land differently when you’re actually there
