Travel Tip Tuesday…I used to enjoy going back to my favourite places on trips. Now I realize I have limited years to take trips, so I want to see as much of the world as possible.
I never thought I would be in South America in a boat on the Panama Canal looking at wild monkeys, but there I was a few months ago.
Try new things. Go to new places. Explore the world. We only live once!

Travel Tip Tuesday-Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes on your cruise?
We really enjoy taking the behind the scenes tours when we go cruising. It’s so fascinating how they manage so many different operations to keep everything moving along so the guests can have a wonderful time.
The absolute best behind the scenes tour we have ever taken was on the
We met the captain and he chatted with everyone but during the 2.5 hours, we got to see all of the main areas that are integral to the ship. This was by far the most detailed and amazing tour.
If you get a chance to take a behind the scenes tour and you are fascinated like my first mate, , this is well worth the cost on any cruise line, but especially on the

Spring has sprung at St. Jacob’s market! Weather isn’t the greatest but a lovely haul of plants for the garden (and other goodies)!

Travel Tip Tuesday-When I travel I always make sure I am carrying my side pouch bag because it keeps everything within arms reach. I not only have passports and travel documentation in there but I keep items I want easy access to on the plane…moisturizer, lip balm, hand sanitizer, tissues…you get the picture. This way, I don’t have to dig for things in my backpack as I use them often throughout the flight.

Do you use something like this on your flights??

Travel Tip Tuesday-Here is a little hack to keep your room nice and dark when sleeping on a cruise. Use that chair clip that keeps your towels from slipping off the deck loungers and clip it onto your curtains in your cabin. The curtain crack disappears!

Travel Tip Tuesday-Do you know the time policy for the excursions that you book? All excursion companies and cruise lines may have slightly different cancellation policies. Some might be 24 hours in advance whereas some might be 72 hours in advance that you are allowed to cancel. Some allow you to cancel but they keep a certain percentage of the cost of your excursion as an administrative fee. However, the one point that some people get caught on is how precise the timing can be for cancellations. For example, if your excursion is at 9:30am and you have a 72 hour cancellation policy, you MUST cancel the excursion 72 hours before which means before 9:30am local time and the local time is for where the excursion is taking place. Check your time zones because you can miss the deadline by a couple of minutes and you won’t get a refund.

Don’t make a costly mistake. Know the cancellation policy before booking.

Travel Tip Tuesday-What is it like to cruise on an Azamara ship? It is AzAmazing!! The smaller ship is wonderful. It’s smaller but still lots to do. The food was good. I didn’t feel the need to do one of their 2 speciality dining options. There were lots of places to sit and have a drink and listen to music. The crew were all friendly and available to the guests. The cabins might be a tiny bit smaller but totally functional with space and storage. The balcony was a nice size with a big table and 2 chairs. My one main issue was the tiny shower with shower curtain, but it did work and the bathroom has good storage. The only interesting fact was that they don’t always stop at regular ports. Sometimes the ports are working shipping areas so if you are doing a 3rd party tour, make sure you know exactly which port you will be at and if it’s mandatory to take their shuttle to a certain part of the city.

In the end, I had a marvellous time on Amazara. We met some wonderful people and made some wonderful memories. It’s a totally different experience being on a smaller ship. I am so glad that I had this opportunity to try it and I would definitely go on Azamara again!

A leisurely day at sea yesterday that started out with a lovely breakfast on the balcony and included an elegant tea. I don’t drink tea but the presentation was beautiful.
