My wife Paula Walker-Cramer and I are fascinated with the SS United States so we scheduled a tour with Perdido Queen Dinner Cruise to see her first hand in the Mobile River downtown Mobile Al.. After our cruise we discovered that my mother, aunt and grandmother came to America from Germany via UK aboard the ship in 1959.
The SS United States is currently being prepared in Mobile AL. to become an artificial reef somewhere off the coast of Destin FL..
The Perdido Queen was a lot of fun as I did not have be the Captain so I was able to enjoy the views, education and partake in some awesome cocktails from their full bar. We will be scheduling a "Murder Mystery" dinner cruise in the near future.

This family of four had a great time! We were out about 8 miles and caught some nice fish. Mom however kept catching catfish on the reef LOL. Caught several Red Snappers and Triggerfish unfortunately they were under size. I took them to where the artificial reefs are built and checked the crab pots on the way back to the marina. Once again a bounty of Blue Crabs. I love the smiles I see on my passenger's faces!

I love fishing with children! The look on their face as they are fighting a fish and the excitement when they bring them aboard for a some photos. I try to teach them a little ecology of the area, the benefits of catch and release and following the fishing regulations for the future anglers. We went to see where the artificial reefs are built and the ship that takes them out to the Gulf. On the way back to the marina we stopped and pulled up some of my crab traps for a bounty of blue crabs.

Great day out on the Gulf of Mexico. Despite the rain we had a blast! It was an interesting day of catching different species of fish. Assorted perches, remoras, snappers and even pale spotted eel that decided to lock on to my finger as I was trying to release it. It may have only been a couple feet long but it felt like I was battling a sea serpent🐍 to release my finger. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Ok, it wasn't a sea serpent. LOL

Take a closer look and you can see the suction cups on the Remora's back. This is how it attaches itself to sharks and other larger species. Notice the Red Snapper was caught on a double hook rig with another fish. Wow! That's a nice Trigger Fish.
We had so much fun that day.
