The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera opened exactly 25 years ago today at Universal Studios Florida. While the original ride may have given way to Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast and is now the home of Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem, it's legacy still lives on two decades later with Intamin's motion-simulation system (built for TFWOHB's opening) still in use today, and expanded for such following Universal attractions as Back to the Future: The Ride in both Orlando and Hollywood, as well as it's replacement, The Simpsons Ride, and was most recently duplicated at Universal Studios Hollywood for the opening of their Despicable Me ride last year. What are some of your most favorite memories of first saving Elroy from Dick Dastardly and Muttley?

The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera at Universal Studios Florida officially closed it's doors forever exactly one decade ago today. It's hard to believe how 10 years and 2 rides have gone by between now and then. What are some of your favorite memories from the attraction, and when do you remember making your last ride?

Universal Orlando announced yesterday that they will be closing their landmark JAWS ride and the Amity area forever on January 2nd, 2012. Please, don't let it go the same way as "The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera". Write to Universal Studios to protest the closing now!

FUN FACT: Unlike most traditional cabin motion simulator rides, TFWOHB took place entirely in a ride theater, with the riders in cars that moved. Non-moving stationary seating was also located in the front of the main ride room for those who only wanted to watch the film without the movement.

FUN FACT: Elroy Jetson was chosen by Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera to star in H-B's next project to tie into the release of "Jetsons: The Movie" which, at the time of TFWOHB's opening with Universal Studios, was only several weeks away.
