As I settle in for my last night aboard Wonder of the Seas, I've been thinking about just how much I've experienced over the past few days.

I boarded this ship alone for my first-ever solo cruise, wondering what the experience would be like - and I've had an absolutely wonderful time!

At CocoCay, I spent the day exploring just about every corner of the island, discovering hidden hammocks, spotting wildlife, and snorkeling among some beautiful fish. I even made a couple of new friends who happen to be retired Air Force veterans. It's a small world!

My sea day was a completely different kind of adventure. A long nap, plenty of hot tub time, and an incredible performance of inTENse at the AquaTheater. The tightrope walkers and high divers had me absolutely amazed. I have no idea how they do what they do, but I was perfectly happy watching from a seat that wasn't suspended over the ocean. ๐Ÿ˜‚

And today brought another first: visiting another country! ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ธ I spent the day in Nassau, where I hopped aboard a catamaran and headed out to a secluded reef for even MORE snorkeling, which is quickly becoming my new favorite pastime. Apparently, all I needed was a mask and some tropical fish to discover a new hobby. ๐Ÿ

Now I'm wrapping up my last evening with a wonderful dinner at Izumi, followed by plans for one more soak in the hot tub and an adults-only comedy show.

This trip has been a little bit of everything: adventure, relaxation, new friendships, new experiences, and the freedom to spend each day doing exactly what I felt like doing.

And the funny thing? I'm already looking forward to my next cruise at the end of October. ๐Ÿ˜‚

This time, Liam will be coming along for his very first cruise aboard the Disney Wish, and I cannot WAIT to experience it through his eyes.

But for tonight, I'm going to enjoy every last minute of this one. ๐Ÿฉต

Definitely not - and there are actually some pretty great rates available right now!

I'm currently sailing aboard Royal Caribbean's Wonder of the Seas, but apparently one cruise at a time isn't enough for me. ๐Ÿ˜‚ I'm already looking forward to my next one!

On October 30, I'll be boarding the Disney Magic in San Diego for my first Halloween on the High Seas cruise - just ONE day before Halloween! ๐ŸŽƒ

I've never experienced Halloween on a Disney cruise before, so I'm really excited to see how Disney does spooky season at sea. And you KNOW I'll be taking plenty of photos and sharing what it's actually like along the way.

But if you've been thinking you've already missed your chance to experience Halloween on the High Seas this year - you haven't!

Disney Cruise Line currently has special rates available on select Halloween sailings, including:

๐ŸŽƒ Select Halloween on the High Seas sailings from San Diego with savings of 20โ€“30%

๐ŸŽƒ Select Halloween sailings aboard the Disney Wish from Port Canaveral with 20% savings on Verandah Guarantee staterooms

These offers are only available on select sailings and stateroom categories, and availability can change as ships fill.

So yesโ€ฆI'm currently on one cruise while already counting down to another. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Would you rather celebrate Halloween at a theme park - or aboard a Disney cruise ship?

I'm officially onboard Wonder of the Seas for my first-ever SOLO cruise - four nights, one giant ship, and one very overdue momcation.

Despite being up way too late last night, I woke up this morning excited and ready to go. My Uber arrived right on time, the drive to Miami was easy, and boarding with The Key was an absolute breeze. No long lines, everyone helping us was incredibly friendly, and before I knew it, I was onboard eating filet mignon that practically fell apart with a fork, ridiculously creamy mac & cheese, and a warm chocolate cake with molten chocolate inside and vanilla ice cream.

Solo cruising is off to a rough start. ๐Ÿ˜‚

And here's what has surprised me already: I don't really feel alone.

I've already met new people, fellow cruisers have been incredibly friendly, and everyone just seems genuinely happy to be here.

So, for the next four nights, I'm going to find out what cruising solo is REALLY like - the good parts, the awkward parts, the unexpected parts, and everything in between.

An examination of a Patronus.

And, of course, Hogwarts itself.

Five nights in Orlando, three Disney parks, three days at Universal, more roller coasters and Food & W**e snacks than I can count, several Florida downpours, and one VERY late night at Halloween Horror Nights.

We're tired, we're leaving with new HHN shirts, and I think we can officially say we need a vacation from our vacation. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Last night was definitely one for the books. Our first RIP Tour was such a fun way to celebrate our third year of this little anniversary tradition we've created together. We laughed, screamed, walked entirely too many miles - around 11, to be exact - and somehow managed to stay awake MUCH later than our usual 10:30 vacation bedtime. ๐Ÿคฃ

This morning, though, our paths split.

I said goodbye to Scott at baggage check as he heads home, and I'm currently relaxing in the Brightline Premium Lounge waiting for my train to Fort Lauderdale.

Scott gets to go home and recover. ๐Ÿ˜…

I'm spending a couple of nights in Fort Lauderdale before boarding a cruise on Monday for my vacation from my vacation.

Tonight, Scott and I are finally going to find out!

This is our third year attending Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Orlando together, but our first time trying an RIP Tour. We've done Halloween Horror Nights with regular admission and Stay & Scream, and last year we added Express Passes - and STILL didn't finish all 10 houses until around 1 AM.

We LOVE Halloween Horror Nights. Staying awake until 2 AM? We're starting to love that part a little less. ๐Ÿ˜‚

So this year, we're trying something completely different.

An RIP Tour is Universal's VIP way to experience Halloween Horror Nights. We'll be joining a small group with our own RIP Tour guide and getting priority VIP entry to to all 10 haunted houses instead of waiting in the regular queues.

Our tour also includes:

โ€ข A pre-tour reception with light food and non-alcoholic drinks
โ€ข Reserved seating for select live entertainment
โ€ข Unlimited Express access to participating regular park attractions after the tour, park hours permitting
โ€ข A commemorative RIP Tour credential and lanyard
โ€ข Complimentary standard valet parking for one vehicle, subject to availability

Our RIP Tour doesn't begin until 8 PM, but our Halloween Horror Nights day starts MUCH earlier.

We'll be heading into Stay & Scream, where houses are beginning to open as early as 2 PM this year. We're hoping to knock out several houses before meeting our tour group, experience them again during the tour, and maybe even make it through a couple of our favorites twice.

I'm also really excited to have a guide with us. There's SO much detail and backstory built into HHN every year, and I'm curious to see how much more we notice experiencing the event this way.

Will the RIP Tour be worth the upgrade over Express?

I'll have a much better answer to that question after tonight. ๐Ÿ˜‚

For now, we're ridiculously excited to experience HHN 35 in a completely new way!

A few days into our Orlando getaway, and apparently we have absolutely no idea how to take a relaxing vacation. ๐Ÿคฃ

We came down here for our annual anniversary trip, and I suppose technically there HAS been some romance.

Our first night started with fresh pasta at Mama Dellaโ€™s at Portofino Bay, where we were surprised with a special anniversary dessert and serenaded by the opera singers and accordion player. Afterward, we walked over to Aventura to meet up with one of my good friends for a drink at Bar 17 Bistro.

Very romantic. Very relaxing.

That was apparently enough of that. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Since then, we've been averaging somewhere around 47,000 steps, two theme parks, three modes of transportation and at least one torrential downpour per day.

Tuesday took us over to Disney, where we checked into Caribbean Beach Resort and spent the day hopping from Hollywood Studios to EPCOT. We rode some of our favorites, ate our way around the world at the International Food & W**e Festival, shopped in multiple countries and trudged through enough puddles that dry socks became a distant memory.

Also, I would like it officially noted that the caramel popcorn in Germany is worth getting rained on for. ๐Ÿ˜‹

We made it back to Caribbean Beach just in time to watch Luminous: The Symphony of Us from the deck near Banana Cabana while eating a very late dinner from Centertown Market. By about 10:30, we finally collapsed into bed.

Surely Wednesday would be easier.

It was not. ๐Ÿ˜‚

We were back at it around 8 AM, fueled by an iced latte and a cinnamon roll approximately the size of my head, and headed to Magic Kingdom.

Our first priority wasn't a ride at all. We wanted to meet Goofy, who was Scott's grandfather Nanu's favorite character. That was one of those little moments that meant more than checking another attraction off a list.

After that, however, we returned to our regularly scheduled chaos.

TRON. Winnie the Pooh for the first time. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Shopping. And finally, lunch at Skipper Canteen, which was AMAZING.

It was actually my first time doing table-service dining inside a Disney park. After seeing the bill, I also suddenly developed a much deeper appreciation for the Disney Dining Plan. ๐Ÿ˜…

We eventually made our way out of Magic Kingdom, took the boat over to the Grand Floridian, wandered through the beautiful lobby and watched an incredibly talented Cast Member create artwork with nothing but water while we waited for our ride.

And that concluded the Disney portion of our day.

Yes. There was another portion. ๐Ÿคฃ

We headed back to Portofino Bay, checked into our room in the West Wing, dropped our bags and immediately caught the water taxi to CityWalk.

Because resting would have been ridiculous.

We made a beeline for Islands of Adventure and put those Express Passes to work on Hulk and VelociCoaster, grabbed a Butterbeer at Three Broomsticks, wandered through Hogsmeade and Toon Lagoon, and eventually claimed a spot on the bridge overlooking Hogwarts to wait for Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle.

Naturally, another rainstorm rolled through while we waited.

But Hogwarts eventually went dark, the show was absolutely worth getting soaked for, and we're already planning to watch it again tonight from a different perspective.

By the time we walked out, Lost Continent and Seuss Landing were almost completely empty. We stopped to chat for a few minutes with a really sweet Team Member named Christian before realizing it was nearly 9 PM and we had somehow forgotten the very important task of eating dinner.

One emergency stop at Red Oven Pizza and a couple more downpours later, we finally caught the water taxi back to Portofino Bay.

Bedtime: approximately 10:30. Again. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Thankfully, I maintain that Portofino has some of the most comfortable beds of all the Universal resorts, and after the previous two days, we put them to VERY good use.

Which brings us to this morning.

For the first time all week, we actually slept in.

Until 10:15!

Practically a spa retreat. ๐Ÿคฃ

We eventually dragged ourselves out of those cloud-like beds and made our way over to Cabana Bay for my favorite Bayliner Diner breakfast: French toast. Then it was a quick walk over to Sapphire Falls to catch the water taxi, which is where we are now.

Today's "relaxing" agenda?

A few hours at Universal Studios, dinner at Bigfire, Hagrid's, VelociCoaster around sunset and another viewing of Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle.

So yes, we're apparently going to need a vacation from our vacation.

But we're having an absolute blast, we've laughed our way through the rain, eaten entirely too much good food, ridden some of our favorite rides and made a whole lot of memories along the way.

And tonight, we're REALLY going to try to be in bed before 10:30.

I'll let you know how that goes. ๐Ÿคฃ

Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle is back at Islands of Adventure!

This nighttime show has been away for the past few years, which means we've never had the chance to experience it during any of our Universal trips. That changes tonight.

If you've followed me for a while, you probably already know how I feel about the Hogwarts Castle nighttime shows. They're easily one of my favorite experiences at Universal. Seeing Hogwarts completely transform after dark is something that videos just don't quite capture.

But this one is a little different.

Dark Arts brings Dementors, Death Eaters and other dark creatures to Hogwarts Castle, culminating with a Patronus lighting up the night.

And yes... I am VERY excited. I have a feeling this one is going to be chilling in the best possible way.

Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle is running on select nights September 5โ€“November 1, and Death Eaters are also returning to Diagon Alley on select dates August 27โ€“November 1.

We're hoping we run into a few of them during Halloween Horror Nights later this week, too!

Tonight, though, I'm ready to see Hogwarts go dark.

Have you ever seen Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle?
