With wonder. They say the South is like one big small town. Whether Atlanta, Birmingham, Nashville, Raleigh or Charleston, our artists draw from a well of southern experiences, personal relationships, and heaps of inner drive. The art they create is new, inspired and collectible. Well + Wonder is a southern-curated, web-based collective begun by a young art broker from Louisville, Kentucky whose roots and art studies extend to Tennessee, the Georgia islands, and fresco-washed Florence, Italy. Founder Mollie Creason believes that experiencing and collecting art shouldn’t be confusing or intimidating. Finding a painting or any artwork should be fun, soulful and add to your sense of wonder. That’s a core philosophy at W+W. Established in 2015, Well + Wonder proudly curates an online gallery of southern art in a price range fit for collectors—those buying their first pieces, and established collectors looking for a fresh perspective. “The word ‘topophilia’ is the strong emotional love and deep connection that humans feel toward a specific place. Like the protagonist in a romance novel, I have the tendency to fall fast and recklessly for places I live and travel. Those love affairs often comes out in my work. The fling never wins me over with the sexy pick up line (I mean, the Eiffel Tower is great and all), but rather in the ways it snuggles with my jet lagged body, challenges me in my presumptions, and surprises me with its secrets.⁠
Usually, it’s the ordinary that dazzles me the most. I always travel with a sketchbook, drawing what I see from observation in the moment and adapting those drawings after I am back in my studio. Often times, I only refer to my drawing (and not a photo) when reimagining a piece as a painting. This leads to misremembered details and the fond memory to fill in the gaps.⁠

Feeling like fall in the collection 🍂 A handful of Sarah Ramsey’s abstracts are still hanging on our gallery walls, and y’all better act fast because we have a feeling they won’t be hanging around for much longer! Painted with a confident and lively hand, Sarah’s latest abstracts feel at once alive and serene. Like a fresh breath of air and a respite for the eyes. A gestural, loose collection sure to bring a little more peace into any home 🤍
