Alaska Summer Cruising

Alaska has a surprisingly short cruise season, generally running from May through September, with the heart of the season falling in June, July and August. Unlike the Caribbean, you can’t simply cruise Alaska year-round.

You can stand where two of Earth’s massive tectonic plates are pulling apart.

On Iceland’s Reykjanes Peninsula, you can visit the Bridge Between Continents — a small footbridge built over a visible fissure associated with the boundary between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates.

Yes, you can literally walk across the bridge from one side to the other and say you’ve walked between two continental plates.

But here’s the REALLY cool part…

Iceland is slowly being pulled apart.

The North American and Eurasian plates are moving away from each other, and this area gives you a fascinating look at that geological process.

So while you’re standing there taking a vacation photo, you’re actually standing in a place where the Earth is literally changing beneath your feet.

Travel Non-Negotiable: Direct Flights when possible ✈️

I’ll almost always choose a direct flight...even if it costs a little more.

Could you save $75 or $100 by adding a layover? Maybe. But is it really worth it?

More time in airports.
More chances for delays.
More chances for missed connections.
More chances for lost or delayed luggage.
More stress when something goes wrong.

When I’m spending thousands on a vacation, I don’t want to start exhausted and stressed just to save a little money on airfare.

Want to save on flights? Try changing your travel dates before adding a layover. Flying a day earlier or later can sometimes save you money without adding the extra hassle.

Sometimes the cheapest flight isn’t actually the best value.

One less connection = one less thing that can go wrong.

✈️ Monday Tip

Plan your sit-down meal for the hottest part of the day. ☀️

This is a tip I use for more than just Disney. When you're sightseeing or exploring a new destination, those few hours in the middle of the day are often the perfect time to step inside, enjoy a leisurely meal, cool off, and recharge.

Instead of trying to power through the heat, make your lunch part of the experience.

In Disney? Enjoy a nice sit-down meal in the air conditioning.
Exploring Rome? Take a long lunch and escape the afternoon heat.
Touring a city? Find a restaurant with a great view and make it part of the adventure.

Sometimes the best way to see more is to slow down for a little while. ✈️✨

🎢 My Universal Orlando Non-Negotiables

Planning a Universal Orlando vacation can feel overwhelming, especially when there are tickets, hotels, Express Pass, Early Park Admission and Epic Universe to consider.

But there are a few things I consider non-negotiable when I’m planning a Universal vacation for my clients:

🏨 Stay at the right on-property hotel.
If Express Pass is important to you, this is a BIG one. Stay at Loews Royal Pacific Resort, Hard Rock Hotel, or Loews Portofino Bay Hotel and registered guests receive complimentary Universal Express Unlimited for Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure — including your check-in and check-out days.

For a family, that can make the price difference between hotels much more worthwhile than it initially appears.

🎟️ Go Park-to-Park.
If riding the Hogwarts Express is on your list, you'll need a Park-to-Park ticket. And honestly, for many Universal trips, I think having the flexibility to move between the parks is well worth it.

🌅 Take advantage of Early Park Admission.
Staying on property gives you access to select attractions before regular park opening. Those early hours can be incredibly valuable for getting ahead of the biggest crowds.

📱 Download the Universal Orlando app.
Wait times, mobile food ordering, park information and more are right at your fingertips. It's one of those little things that can make your day run much more smoothly.

DID YOU KNOW?

The Eiffel Tower gets taller in the summer! 🗼☀️

It can grow by about 6 inches when temperatures rise. And no, they aren’t adding another floor!

The Eiffel Tower is made of iron, and when the metal heats up, it expands, causing the tower to become slightly taller. When temperatures cool down, it contracts again.

So if you visit Paris in the summer, you’re actually seeing the Eiffel Tower at its tallest! ✨

Just another little detail that makes traveling so fascinating.

Don’t just choose the destination. Choose the right time to visit it. 🌸🇯🇵

Japan is an incredible example. The experience can look completely different depending on when you go.

Spring brings cherry blossoms, fall brings beautiful autumn colors, summer offers festivals and longer days, and winter brings snowy landscapes and a completely different side of Japan.

The “best” time to visit isn’t always the same for everyone. It depends on what you want to see, what kind of weather you enjoy, how you feel about crowds, and what you want your trip to look like.

The destination matters. But sometimes, the timing matters just as much.

That’s where thoughtful planning can make all the difference. ✨
