🏰🌴 A Day in the Heart of Old San Juan

Today was everything we hoped for and more as we stepped off the ship and into the colorful charm of Old San Juan! 🇵🇷

We kicked things off at El Morro, the iconic fortress perched above the sea — the views were absolutely stunning and the kids had a blast exploring the open grounds and cannons.

Next up: Barrachina, the restaurant famously known as the birthplace of the piña colada. 🍍🥥 And yes, they lived up to the hype! It was the perfect tropical break in our day of adventure.

As we wandered the blue cobblestone streets, we passed the narrowest house in San Juan, admired its quirky charm, and then made our way to the famous Pigeon Park — where hundreds of birds flutter around the square and the kids were wide-eyed with wonder. 🕊️

We wrapped up our day at a family favorite — The Children’s Café, a cozy, welcoming spot where we recharged and recapped our favorite moments over tasty treats. 💛

Old San Juan, you absolutely stole our hearts today.

A New Port, A New Adventure… but first, coffee. ☕️🇵🇷

We stepped off the ship this morning into the beautiful port of San Juan, greeted by colorful streets, warm Caribbean air, and the unmistakable charm of Puerto Rico. 💃🏽

Excited for the day ahead — full of history, flavors, and hidden gems — but before we dive into the adventure, we’re making a very important stop: coffee time. ☕️ Because exploring a new city hits different with a cafe in hand.

🌺 Gladys’ Café in St. Thomas🌺

📍 First Tastes & First Sips in the Virgin Islands

Our St. Thomas day kicked off in the colorful streets of Charlotte Amalie with lunch at the iconic Gladys’ Café — and it was everything we hoped for (and more!).

I treated myself to a lobster salad stuffed avocado — fresh, flavorful, and hands-down unforgettable. We also couldn’t resist trying the conch fritters 🐚 and jerk wings 🌶️🍗 — bold, island flavors that totally delivered!

And then… I officially crossed a Caribbean must-do off my list: Painkiller cocktail 🍍🥥. Vacation magic in a glass!

If you’re ever in port here, Gladys’ is a must — warm vibes, local charm, and their famous house-made hot sauce you’ll want to pack in your suitcase. 🌶️

🛳️ Why We’re Obsessed with Family Harbor on the Vista! 🍪🎮🍦

Our family cannot get enough of the Family Harbor Lounge — it’s truly a game-changer for cruising with kids! 💙

From early morning quick bites and chocolate milk before heading out to port, to cookie hour at night (with bonus candy treats! 🍬) — our kids are living their best vacation life.

They’ve spent time in there:
🎮 Playing video games
🎲 Challenging each other to board games
🛋️ Lounging while we relaxed as a family

Let’s talk ice cream access — whenever they want it! 🍦
And yes, there’s a daily phenomenon we now call:
🕓 The 4PM Dad Ice Cream Hour — when all the moms are clearly showering and getting ready for dinner, and the dads are mysteriously congregating by the soft serve machine. 😆🍦

✨ And me? I’ve probably drank my cruise fare’s worth in espresso — starting with Morning Espresso while I walk the deck solo ☕, and ending with afternoon iced coffees (all free thanks to Family Harbor access!) 🙌

Family Harbor made everything easier, cozier, and just more fun.

If you’re sailing with your crew — this space is the real MVP. 🙌

🌊 Sea Day Shenanigans on the Vista! 🚢

Today was all about exploring everything the Carnival Vista has to offer — and trust me, there’s a LOT! ☀️

Vinny officially fell in love with the waterslides 💦 (and went down more times than we could count). Then he tackled the ropes course like a champ and even took the SkyRide for a spin — once he learned you have to be completely dry first! 😅

Sea days are perfect for discovering hidden gems around the ship and letting the kids burn off that endless vacation energy! ⚓️

Carnival is known for its fantastic food, and our first formal night did not disappoint!

Our kids went all out — trying escargot, tuna carpaccio, and filet mignon like true foodies in the making. 🍽️
And of course, they wrapped it all up with some of the most incredible desserts we’ve had at sea. 🍰🍨

It’s not every day you get to dress up, be treated like royalty, and dine on five-star meals while floating in the middle of the ocean. One of those cruise moments we’ll never forget! 💙🚢

Did you know that some of Carnival’s specialty restaurants are FREE for lunch — even though they charge extra for dinner?

Marcy and I took full advantage and enjoyed an amazing, freshly made pasta lunch at Cucina del Capitano — no extra charge and no skimping on quality! 👩‍🍳✨

From build-your-own pasta bowls to rich sauces and fresh ingredients, it was one of the best meals of the trip so far… and it didn’t cost us a dime more. 💃🏼🍽️

🌊 Sea Day Shenanigans on the Vista! 🍳🍭🎭

Our first sea day was packed with fun, food, and sweet surprises!

🥞 We kicked things off with Sea Day Brunch at Horizons — pancakes, steak & eggs, and plenty of coffee for the grown-ups. A perfect start to a relaxing day at sea.

🐚In true Marcy form we stumbled upon the creativity at sea and made our own first free  souvenirs

🎭 Then we hit the SEE show to learn more about our upcoming ports. It was so fun to get a sneak peek at the adventures waiting for us in St. Thomas, San Juan, Amber Cove, and Grand Turk!

🍬 And the highlight of Marcy’s day? Winning a GIANT bag of candy from Cherry on Top! She’s now officially the sweetest one on board (and slightly more hyper, too).

Sea days aren’t just for rest — they’re for making core memories with your crew. 💙

Our crew got assigned to Reflections for dinner — and let’s just say… our kids are officially fans of cruise dining!

The look on their faces when the server said,
“Order whatever you want — yes, steak or even two desserts” 😲🍰🍨
✨ PURE AMAZEMENT.

They love going out to eat, but this? This felt like fancy freedom. The service, the choices, the fun of trying new things (and always circling back to chicken nuggets) made it a night to remember.

Reflections set the tone — and we can’t wait for what’s next on the menu!

Before setting sail, every cruiser has to check in at their muster station — it’s a quick safety stop where you learn what to do in an emergency. 🛟 little ones get wristbands
