This Wednesday (12/3) from Sunset until 8pm the Airport will be running a test of the new LED light beacon at the Airport in Philipsburg. They have tested with the light at different angles previously and this test should be the highest angle the light has been pointed at so far.

Please be sure to get outside and view this test!

The Airport Board at Riddick Field in Philipsburg has installed a very bright rotating LED Airport Light Beacon. They want the airport to be open 24/7 and that would mean this new beacon will pollute our night skies with a VERY bright rotating LED light from Dusk until Dawn EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. They did a test run of this light and it can be seen throughout the Flint Creek Valley and even up at Georgetown Lake!

Philipsburg does not need a 24/7 operational airport and certainly do not need this light polluting our skies for MAYBE a handful of flights that would land here after dark. We have a helipad for Lifeflight that helicopters can already land at 24/7 for emergencies.

TAKE ACTION: Tuesday, Nov 18th the Granite County Commissioners meeting at the Granite County Courthouse (room next to the DMV) at 10:15am will be addressing this issue. PLEASE go to this meeting and make your opinion and voice heard on this matter
