A client recently reached out to me, interested in a multigenerational getaway to Disneyland. She requested a hotel with a complimentary shuttle to the parks, as well as complimentary breakfast.

I get it. Both of those things could add value to a trip. However...

This client prefers upscale hotels and is accustomed to staying on property at Disney World, inside the magic bubble. The few hotels near Disneyland that have a shuttle and breakfast? I knew that none of them would provide the immersive, premium Disney experience she wanted for her extended family's first-ever visit to the Happiest Place on Earth.

So, I suggested Disney's Pixar Place Hotel. The kids in the group will love the bright colors and familiar characters featured in the decor, as well as the fun rooftop pool and game area, where they can watch the Disneyland fireworks, complete with the music piped in for the nighttime spectacular.

The adults will appreciate the freshly renovated, larger rooms, on-site dining and beverage options, easy access to Downtown Disney and the parks, and never once having to hassle with folding up strollers to go to and from the parks. IKYYK!

Best of all, from arrival to departure, they'll be surrounded by Disney magic.

It wasn't what the client asked for, but it was exactly what she wanted. She booked with me right away.

My clients were halfway across the Pacific on their cruise from Alaska to Hawaii when I started proactively monitoring the storm. While they were at sea with no cell service, I began calling ahead, checking on their planned activities.

When their cruise itinerary was changed, skipping their overnight in Kauai completely and adding an overnight in Hilo and an extra stop on Maui instead, I spent my day researching new port excursion options and availability so my client could spend their sea days relaxing instead of worrying.

I found another luau that aligned with the new itinerary, and I created a customized itinerary for their extra day on Maui, including dining recommendations that worked for their dietary needs and allergies. I put all the information in one email with links, so everything they needed was right there, all the research legwork removed.

As soon as they arrived in the islands and had cell service again, they sent me a text that said, "Thank you soooooo much for all of your help. You saved the day!"

That, ladies and gentlemen, is why having a travel advisor matters.
