Summit Healthcare continues to advance surgical care in the White Mountains with the da Vinci 5 robotic surgical system, expanding access to minimally invasive procedures for patients in the White Mountains.
Robotic-assisted surgery at Summit Healthcare is performed entirely by the surgeon, who remains in the operating room at all times. The robot does not operate independently. Instead, the surgeon controls every aspect of the procedure using the robotic system, which enhances precision, visualization, and control during surgery.
General surgeon Dr. Lynn Bryan completed the first da Vinci 5 procedures at Summit Healthcare on May 27, 2026, successfully performing two cases with successful outcomes. This milestone reflects both the strength of the hospital’s surgical program and Dr. Bryan’s leadership in advancing robotic surgery in the region.
Summit Healthcare has long been committed to bringing leading-edge healthcare technology to rural Arizona, including the ROSA robotic surgical system. The da Vinci 5 further supports this mission by enhancing minimally invasive surgical capabilities.
This investment also reinforces Summit Healthcare’s commitment to recruiting and retaining highly skilled physicians, surgeons, and healthcare professionals dedicated to serving rural communities.
“Every decision we make starts with our community and how we can best serve the people who call the White Mountains home. The arrival of the da Vinci 5 reflects that commitment, ensuring access to exceptional surgical care close to home. We are honored to bring this technology to our patients and proud of the team making it possible,” said William Gardner, CEO of Summit Healthcare.
Summit Healthcare remains committed to delivering high-quality care and expanding access to advanced medical services for the communities it serves. To learn more, visit https://summithealthcare.net/da-vinci-5-robotic-surgery-system/
