Merry Christmas and happy New Year!! 2022 has been another wild ride, and here's to 2023. πŸ₯‚

The best part of taking this year's traditional pic was probably when I was putting the boat in the water and getting ready to go, and a stranger on the dock asked if he could join. This isn't really a bring new friends along for the ride boating session, bud. 🀣

But also, this was the first time I towed, dropped the boat in, and pulled it out all by myself. πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ

How's your 2023 so far? Took the pic on Christmas day, but for no known reason, waited until Christmas in July to share. Couldn't go a single day longer letting it look like I gave up on the tradition. πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ™ˆ

Let there be light! πŸ’‘πŸ’‘πŸ’‘

Happy New Year, merry Christmas, happy Hannukah, Festivus, whatever you may celebrate! A little late in posting, but squeaked this year's traditional pic share in with a few hours to spare.

Not only did these lights ask for the nothing- but-the-Santa-hat pic (great suggestion ! !), but I've spent a significant amount of energy and focus this year on getting my house back in shape after a decade of renting to a probably hoarder. One of the nagging issues was electrical work that needed done and as of about two weeks ago, all the electricity in my house works. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Not really being on social this year makes me want to make this post an update. But also who wants to read all that on NYE?

Merry merry. Safe, joyful, and festive times to all! 😘

Happy New Year! 2020 took so much from so many, but I couldn't let it take this tradition.

5 years ago, I accidentally started a nothing-but-the-Santa-hat photo as a [pun-intended] cheeky way to celebrate the holidays while traveling. So this year, while it isn't celebrating travel, it's about what's been going on in 2020 for me - being back in AZ with my new best bud (and, as of this week, approved road trip pal), Gertie.

[2nd pic to see how generally unamused by me she is πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.]

I've spent most of the year putting out metaphorical fires, chasing medical issues that still don't have answers, avoiding much of social media to avoid the political firestorm. Moved on from some friendships and some got way stronger. Found ways to feel informed and sound of mind and body.

Everything that sucked in 2020 isn't magically better today, but it sure feels like we're headed in the right direction.

Though as a result of terrible events, it feels like we saw wins, albeit small, on so many battlegrounds for equality, sovereignty, justice and the environment. Case after case find the current administration's attempted actions illegal. The world rallied around Hong Kong as they stood their ground and fought for their rights and a record number of millions protested in the name of racial justice. Conversations that would never have had so much momentum and attention just last year are at least getting airtime.

Here's to 2021, health, happiness and keeping up the good fight! πŸ₯‚

It's National Park Week in the US, so this week, I'll look back and share some pics from parks in a different state each day.

SOUTH DAKOTA has *8 National Park sites. South Dakota parks' theme? Beefy boyz (aka bison, aka buffalo).

Have you been to any of the parks in South Dakota? Which is your favorite? Do you have pics to share?????

I got the chance to visit several of the sites last year, road-tripping with my fall road trip bud Nina (Where in the World is Nina?), and I think Badlands was my favorite and biggest surprise.

Click through the pics for some info about the parks or check out my post about National Parks in South Dakota here: https://www.howdareshe.org/south-dakota-national-parks-monuments-and-memorials/.

*I list 8 because Crazy Horse Memorial is not a site administered by the National Park Service, but is so linked to the rest, I think it should be included in the list.

Note!! The National Park Service is adjusting park accessibility on a park-by-park basis and most services and facilities are closed, with some spaces open to the public. Consult https://www.nps.gov/coronavirus for info if you're considering visiting any at this time.

I have Cactus League fever while I'm working on a few more(!!!) spring training posts, so this is today's view, with the four broadcast games going (Cubs on audio, obviously). Yesterday morning I was running errands in the area, so I popped by Diablo to get a peek if practice had started (fun fact, you can see most practices in the mornings, whether there are games or not).

Here's everything I have on spring training if you're planning a visit:

Visitor's Guide for Cactus League spring training (everything from the history of the league to schedules and planning)

10/10. Do you know which spring training ballpark is the oldest? Youngest? Has been home to the most teams? Has the best Sonoran dogs? Which is your favorite? What's the best thing to try at them?

This post was an absolute BEAST, but one I loved putting together having loved going to Cactus League games for so long. So I've put together a checklist of ballparks and A LOT of detail on them.

Get ready for more Cactus League posts coming as pitchers and catchers report to Arizona!
