A wonderful tribute during the current Chelsea flower show to HRH King Charles, an avid gardener. And yes, Xylem will be attending the 2027 Chelsea next May.
"Circa May 2026, at the Royal Hospital Chelsea in the grounds that have hosted the world's greatest flower show every year since May 20, 1913, King Charles III walked into the RHS and The King's Foundation Curious Garden at the Chelsea Flower Show and told designer Frances Tophill that it was everything he had hoped it would be, that he wanted to stay longer and see more, and that although he was sad the garden would be dismantled after the show, he was glad it would live on at a college where young people could learn from it. That quiet exchange between a King and a garden designer, spoken in the afternoon light of one of Britain's most beloved annual events, carried the weight of a lifetime of conviction behind it. King Charles has been talking about the relationship between plants, people and the planet since long before it was fashionable: in 1985, when he began converting his Highgrove estate to organic farming methods, he was widely regarded, in his own words, as a complete idiot for wanting to do so. By 1994, Highgrove had achieved full organic status, and the Duchy Organic range it spawned has since donated over thirty million pounds to charitable causes since 2009. The King once described the delphinium with characteristic passion as the flower that, massed in platoons with its impeccable bearing, holds pride of place in his botanical affections, and so it was entirely fitting that The Curious Garden at Chelsea 2026 featured delphiniums grown especially at RHS Wisley, including the rare double rose-bud variety Delphinium Alice Artindale, seldom seen in gardens today. Alan Titchmarsh, who advised on the garden and once described Charles as the best royal gardener in history, captured the spirit of the whole endeavour perfectly: gardeners, he said, are more important today than ever."
