East or Gulf Florida Coast ??☀️🦎🌴🌎🌅

Two coasts, one state, and an argument that has never once been settled at a family cookout.

The Gulf side makes its case on calm. Flat green water you can walk out into for a hundred yards, sand so fine it squeaks under your feet because it is nearly pure quartz washed down from the Appalachians, and a sunset that goes down directly into the water while you are still standing in it. Shelling is better. Kids can actually swim. The whole thing runs at about half speed.

The Atlantic side makes its case on energy. Real waves, real surf, water that is a deeper blue and noticeably colder in winter, packed sand you can ride a bike on, and a sunrise over the ocean that Gulf people have to drive three hours to see. You do not doze off on the Atlantic. It keeps moving and so do you.

And the honest truth is that most people pick whichever one their family drove to when they were seven years old, and everything after that is just justification.
