We visited Cetinje, the former capital of Montenegro with its wonderful pedestrian streets and presidential house. A special treat, we visited a beekeeper whose family has lived on the property for hundreds of years where we saw the bees and tasted honey liqueur (and more raki, of course!). When we made a bonus visit to Budva (!) with its beaches, narrow alleys, beautiful architecture and great shops. We finally arrived in Lustica, our amazing seaside resort overlooking the yachts in the marina.

We twisted and turned our way up the Ostrog Monastery, a stunning Orthodox Church. Carved high up into the mountains of Montenegro, into the side of a cliff and filled with colorful mosaics, this monastery is incomparable. Continuing on, we explored the capital city of Podgorica, dined on fish (with their heads, Balkans style) and finished the evening with cocktails at our rooftop bar at sunset. What an amazing day.

Yes, we made our way up to another castle - Rozafa Castle - and it sure was beautiful! We continued into the town of Shkodra for a little lunch and spending the rest of our Albanian lek. Then we crossed the border into Montenegro where we’ll be for the next four days! Rooftop dining with beautiful views for some of us or dining at a local seafood restaurant for others was the perfect way to on end the day.

Berat, Albania, the City of a Thousand Windows! We explored the rocky maze of the Castle Hill and looked over the lower city and loved the picturesque sites around each corner. We visited the Jewish Museum and learned of the history here and then visited a much-deserved vineyard and had a beautiful tasting and lunch!

Today we dove into the complex and multi-layered history of Albania as we explored Tirana on foot. We drove through a town where many things are named after George W. Bush on the way to Krujë and the castle on the hill, surrounded by stunning scenery all around. We made our way through the Old Bazaar with crazy stone walkways and met a family who are the descendants of a Righteous Gentile. We experienced how felt hats and slippers are made by a traditional craftsman, and we enjoyed a Shabbat Cocktail Hour overlooking the city. Shabbat shalom from Albania!

Welcome to Albania, and the start of our Amazing Journey through the Balkans! We have a very excited group of travelers who are excited to get out there and start exploring this unique country. We started our trip with our AJ Welcome and some wonderful Albanian food and folk music!

We began the day in the magical City of Venice with a leisurely walking tour, then went to Murano via water taxi, where we watched artisans practice the ancient craft of glassmaking. Can one really experience Venice without taking a classic gondola ride through the city's waterways? That's exactly what we did! The evening concluded with a beautiful dinner at an elegant restaurant, providing a memorable finale to our Amazing Italian Journey.

This morning we left our Tuscan villa and headed to Bologna for a walking tour and a delicious lunch highlighting local specialties. We then boarded our bus and drove to Venice where we boarded water taxis that took us to our local hotel. This evening we started exploring Venice on foot. This city is like no other in the entire world!
