Story Saturday
After our official tour was over in Spain last June, my daughter and I stayed an extra week in the beautiful town of Valladolid with friends. We ended up visiting a stunning village, Curiel de Duero, where a friend of mine has a family home. Some friends of hers took us around this remote place opening up a church constructed in the 15th century just for us as well as a one room schoolhouse which was still exactly as it had been in the Franco era. After that, on a whim, they invited us to their home where they shared fantastic food and drinks with us and we chatted about life. Their random kindness and being able to share that slice of life with strangers who quickly became friends brought tears to me then as we were departing and still makes the love well up in my heart when I reflect on it. When we left, the gentleman gave me a statue of San Fermin which is in my office today.
