The UTMSI Summer Science Camp is giving students ages 10+ the chance to explore the wonders of the Texas coast through hands-on STEAM activities, field investigations, laboratory experiences, and real-world marine science research. Campers will work alongside scientists, make new friends, and discover what it means to be a scientist right here in Port Aransas!

Barron Custom Design, LLC is an award-winning boutique architectural design firm. Projects by the firm have been featured in the HGTV Pro-Design network, Houzz, and Apartment Therapy. The goal of each project is to create beautiful, functional, and sustainable spaces that meet the needs of the specific client while blending within a community.

With an extensive background in technical knowledge, the firm has the experience to guide and assist clients through the design process. Barron Custom Design’s portfolio includes custom single-family and small-scale multi-unit residential projects, as well as working with builders, developers, and small commercial projects.

Founded in 2003, Principal Felicia B. Foster started BCD after many years working in the industry in various aspects, from design to land development to construction. The company was based in Austin, TX, but relocated the office to Port Aransas in 2020. Although the firm is based in the Coastal Bend Region, due to the remote nature of the business, they work with clients across the country. The office of Barron Custom Design shares space with Dwell Lab Design Studio. The focus of the design studio is to provide a place to network and have suppliers bring new products to share with the local building community. Barron Custom Design’s specialty is taking a vision to reality!

Fire It Ceramics owner Melissa Shook took over the Port Aransas ceramics studio in 2007. Melissa grew the studio from a 600-square-foot space to the 3,600-square-foot space it is today. Fire It! is the largest paint-your-own ceramics studio in Texas, with the largest selection of pottery and paints to choose from. Fire It! Ceramics is a treasured part of the Port Aransas community and loved by locals and visitors alike!

A big shout out and thank you to the 53 volunteers who came out for the San José Island beach cleanup last week in partnership with University of Texas Marine Science Institute, Mission-Aransas Reserve, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, and the Surfrider Foundation.

Together, they hauled 1,430 pounds of trash off the beach in just two hours 🗑️🥳
