Built in 1735 on the banks of the Beaufort River, Fort Frederick in Port Royal is one of the largest Tabby forts that was ever built. It was the main defense of Beaufort for the British army until 1758.
Today, its ruins can be enjoyed as the Fort Frederick Heritage Preserve on Old Shell Road.

Itโ€™s time to show off your hometown pride as we celebrate Americaโ€™s 250th Birthday with a community-wide House Decorating Contest.

Break out the flags, bunting, lights, wreaths, inflatables, porch dรฉcor, and all the patriotic spirit youโ€™ve got. Whether you go classic Americana or full โ€œUncle Sam exploded on my front lawn,โ€ we want to see it.

Decorate throughout June for a chance to win:
