Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa confirmed that, beyond the upcoming Super Mario Bros. sequel (April 2026) and the live-action Legend of Zelda film (May 2027), the company is actively working on “various other projects” in film and TV—though he didn’t share specifics about which IPs are involved.
In a recent annual shareholders’ Q&A, Furukawa emphasized Nintendo’s new approach: rather than just licensing its characters, the firm is deeply involved in production and willing to invest to maintain high-quality standards. He framed this as part of a broader strategy to expand the reach of Nintendo IPs beyond games and into cinematic storytelling.
