Incredible gift from Sarah Paul at yesterday’s Intro to Design Thinking workshop. I was Sarah’s client for our afternoon design challenge and she designed this for me! It codifies an ideal collaborative workflow that I can use to communicate with others. Check out her crazy good stick figure skills!

Thanks to Sarah and all of yesterday’s participants for a meaningful day together.

After a year, our work designing and facilitating community processes across 8 towns to build a regional vision and action plan is complete. We are so proud of this once in a generation body of work, and especially buoyed by the hope in the room when the final book was shared back with the people of the Katahdin region.

Mainebiz summarizes:

"The result of the Gazetteer project is a 117-page bound book, as well as a digital version, that outlines the region's goals broken down into six "big ideas":

- Foster vibrant villages that enhance the region;
- Make it the premier four-season outdoor destination in New England;
- Be a place that supports and attracts people of all ages;
- Cultivate local jobs and a new regional economy;
- Grow the next wave of forest product manufacturing;
- Future-proof the region.

The action points in each section, designed to look like easy-to-digest post-it notes, include cost estimates, where appropriate, and who will carry out the plan."

You can view the whole Katahdin Gazetteer on the Katahdin Collaborative website:https://katahdincollaborative.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/AllInKatahdin_VisionActionReport_Digital.pdf

Over the past year, we have been working with hundreds of people who live and work in eight towns in the Katahdin region of Maine to design their future. It’s a huge, messy process and it’s all coming together. The final action plan will be shared in April.

If the process had a bibliography this would be it.
