In today's world, kindness sometimes seems to be in short supply. If you watch much of the news, it's often filled with stories of violence, personal attacks, and crime.

A few days ago, while waiting in line to return an item at Home Depot, I witnessed a random act of kindness that restored a little of my faith in people.

A customer a few spots ahead of us had her right arm in a sling. The upper part of her arm was covered in bruises, and she was struggling to manage her shopping cart and the items she was returning.

By the time she reached the counter, she was becoming emotional and frustrated. I overheard the cashier ask if she needed a hug. The woman replied, "I'd really like it if you could help put my hair up."

Within 30 seconds, the employee had gently twisted her hair up and secured it with a clip. Then she gave the customer a warm hug before sending her on her way.
It was such a simple gesture, but it clearly meant the world to someone who was having a difficult day.

Kudos to that kind Home Depot employee for reminding us that compassion doesn't have to be complicated. Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness make the biggest difference.

We haven't second-guessed our decision to get a seasonal campsite near our son and his sweet family for a single minute.

Moments like this remind us why. Watching our 5-year-old grandson's face light up with excitement as he reeled in this "whopper" is something no amount of travel or adventure could ever replace.

The fish may not have broken any records, but the memory certainly did. ❤️🎣

29 years with you by my side, and I still feel incredibly blessed. ❤️ Happy Anniversary to the love of my life! Thank you for all the laughter, adventures, challenges we've overcome, and beautiful memories we've made together. I wouldn't want to walk this journey with anyone else. If you haven’t tried Japanese sweet potatoes, stop what you’re doing and go get one!!! 😍

After washing it off, I rubbed some olive oil on it and sprinkled a little bit of garlic powder and onion flakes on it.

I wrapped it in foil and baked it in the oven at 375° for about 38 minutes, then let it sit for another 10 minutes. Hands down, THE best potato I’ve ever eaten!

They’re sweeter, creamier, and richer than regular sweet potatoes — almost like a dessert. The inside gets soft and fluffy while the outside caramelizes perfectly.

Memorial Day is a time to pause and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives while serving in the U.S. military. 🇺🇸

Observed on the last Monday of May, Memorial Day was originally known as Decoration Day, named for the tradition of decorating the graves of fallen soldiers with flowers and flags. The holiday began after the Civil War, a conflict that claimed more than 620,000 lives and left communities across the nation searching for ways to remember and honor their heroes.

Over time, the observance expanded to recognize all Americans who died in military service, and in 1971 Memorial Day officially became a federal holiday.

Today, families honor the day by visiting cemeteries and memorials, attending parades, flying the American flag, and gathering with loved ones.

While it also marks the unofficial start of summer, the heart of Memorial Day remains a remembrance of sacrifice, courage, and freedom. ❤️🤍💙

If you want to see two little boys’ faces light up, take them to their first Monster Jam event!

Keith and I were lucky enough to accompany our precious grandsons to see the giant monster trucks perform their jaw-dropping stunts at Cleveland Browns Stadium.

At Monster Jam, monster trucks face off in two different forms of competition — side-by-side racing and freestyle:

• Side-by-side racing — traditional bracket racing where the first truck to cross the finish line with the fewest penalties is declared the winner.
• Freestyle competition — drivers are given a limited amount of time on the open floor to show off their skills, while the fans serve as the judges.

Most trucks are 12 feet tall and 12 feet wide. Even the tires are massive — over five feet tall and weighing more than 600 pounds each! Every truck competing in Monster Jam must weigh at least 10,000 pounds, which is why they need between 1,500 and 2,000 horsepower to fly, flip, and roar across the arena the way they do.

We stayed until the very end and cheered on favorites like Grave Digger, El Toro Loco, and several others.

Our is just a hop, skip, and a jump from Lake Erie.

When our son Jesse asked Keith if he wanted to go fishing, Keith wasted no time saying yes!

Lake Erie is widely considered the “Walleye Capital of the World,” producing more walleye than all the other Great Lakes combined.

The guys had a great day fishing near Cleveland and brought home some mighty good eating! 🎣🐟
