We've been out of town for a few days and look what happened...!!! Mid-80's, bright sunshine, and even a little (unusual) humidity will do that! Lupine are right are scheduled; we were just slacking off! What a GREAT welcome to the summer season! Hope you can be here soon to enjoy! ALWAYS something fun in the Rangeley Lakes Region of Maine!
Yesterday’s edition: sweet rainbow, NO rain (at least this side of Saddleback Mountain)! Longest lasting rainbow we remember and its glow, or the glow from the setting sun, certainly added a dreamy effect. Yup!!! 🌟 Always something fun in the RLRofMaine! Rangeley, Maine 06.02.26

Loved seeing this...
As we were coming into the dock at Middle Dam, I saw "something" up on the bank. I have a nice telephoto lens on the 'good' camera 🙂 so I started snapping away to see what we were seeing. Turns out it was two sets of Canada geese with their new babies..... They immediately waddled down over the bank and into the water, ironically coming closer to us. What I so enjoyed seeing was the very defensive, “I'm going to rip you apart”, stances of the geese. Geese are often vocal but as I recall, and seem to see here, they were not honking like usual - just giving us (and probably Reese) the body language that we (the geese) CAN and WILL take you (probably more Reese) on. Again, we were not that close; just looks like we were. Ultimately, they swam past us and then were a lot more relaxed. Reese seemed to understand that these guys were not to be messed with, either she didn't perceive them as a danger for us, or she realized it was for her own good to not pay attention to these very on alert geesies!

Forecasts!!! Here’s our advice - just get out there and do it! Keep an eye to the sky and don’t think you’re going to outsmart Momma Nature but don’t not do what you were going to do due to a weather forecast. All the advice we have for today! 🤓🤓😊 Hope you get to enjoy some of this!

Summer’s on its way….mostly! ☺️ At least every third or so day has shown evidence of some summer! The other days, not so much…. We’re not listening to the forecasts of s.n.o.w. (!!!) for Friday(ish) night… See, we’re not listening! I think they were talkin’ Friday night. Not listenin’….. but we’ll bring the morning glories in!
Here’s what we enjoyed on Tuesday. Yup, right after all you poor vacationers left, after the gray, cool, spritzy weekend. ☹️ Sorry! Summer WILL come and it’ll look like this! Hope you can come take a look for yourself soon, too!

The good thing about tromps in May needing winter jackets (it continues to be sooo cold…) is there’s NO BUGS!!!! There’s a saying that black flies are “The Defenders of the Great Outdoors”! If there were no bugs, EVERYONE would be here; not just the hearty/stupid ones like us when we’re being swarmed with a curtain of black flies! Feels funny, but certainly nice!, to be out without battling the black flies.
This was our trip to Big Falls (yup, another gem 💞) last Tuesday, May 12. We went to check for the abundance painted trilliums that are always so gorgeous there but, duh!, it’s too cold for them, too! N.O.T. one sign of ‘em! Maybe next weekend or so….?
