SmallRig has upgraded their protective cage for the DJI Action 6 camera that allows for the use of the X~PWR A3/4 External power kit.
With the new "Advanced" SmallRig cage, all that was needed was a small spacer and longer D-ring camera screw to accommodate the longer Action 6 camera.

Product improvement:
X~PWR SS13 now has button actuators. The makes pressing the on/off & record buttons easy, even with gloves on.
No more gouging the buttons with your fingernails.
Also new is the finned top cover. Great for applications where there is some airflow over the camera.

Three of three - X~PWR SS Ace* with Insta360 Ace Pro 2 as a dash cam.
I previously tested the GoPro HERO13 & DJI Action 5 as dash cams using the X~PWR Sun Shield - External Power kits for protection against heating due to solar radiation (see added pictures).
Ace Pro 2 PROs:
- Auto on/record & stop in camera settings
-Good low light performance
-Battery stays charged using my least like feature of Insta360
cameras - charging battery while recording.
CONS:
- No built in GPS. I don't want to have to fiddle with a separate
app to get GPS on the video

YT suspended it for no specific reason but they reinstated it again with no explanation given.
It makes me a bit nervous. YouTube is an integral part of my business with product and informational videos.
Having it suspended without anything other than, "you did something wrong" and an appeal process that is a joke is scary.
A big thanks to the X for getting it reinstated.

Here's a comparison between the Insta360 X4 & X5 camera power draw.
Notice that the only noticeable difference is the power off mode where the X5 draws a whopping 27.8W. This will charge the battery very quickly.
More significant is the power ON values. It really doesn't make any difference if you are plugged into a USB-PD charger or an older BC1.2 charger.
It also shows my biggest issue with Insta360 - their insistence on charging the battery when recording.
Given the fact that 98% of power consumed by the camera gets turned into heat, this just adds heat to a camera that already tends to run hot. To make matters worse, you can't easily record without the battery since it is an integral part of the battery compartment door.
I wish Insta360 would make this a setting that could be turned off.
