The water temperature has climbed up to 62 degrees which seems to have made a difference.

Last week and the week before, we were seeing temps at 59 and we were getting mostly shaker halibut (undersized). The question was, were we getting shakers because there were only shakers? Or were we getting them because they just bite before the big ones had a chance? Some questions will never be answered, however we were happy to see this shift in better results for our efforts.

I hope this showing of larger models continues to improve. I am booked up for next Saturday but Sunday happens to be available.

I’m running live bait halibut/striper starting
Friday May 8.

May 8- 2 spots available
May 9- Filled

The bite has been hit and miss for keeper halibut. We have been catching on average 35 shaker halibut each trip. The water was still 59 degrees over the weekend.

This weekend we have better tides and will have access to more halibut water. I am expecting to see an improvement in the South Bay and North bay. We will roll the dice and see what happens.

Besides that we had an awesome day catching 35 shakers that kept everyone alive. The kids had a blast.
