Do you know the difference 💭

Do you know the difference between a passport book and a passport card? The U.S. passport book is the only document approved for international AIR travel. The passport card costs less, but can only be used at U.S. land and sea border crossings. Both can be used as a Real ID for domestic travel. You can apply for a passport book and card on the same passport application. Learn more at travel.state.gov/passport

Travel Advisory: Effectively immediately, Spirit Airlines has ceased operations. All flights to and from Richmond International Airport (RIC) and across its network are canceled. If you have a ticket booked on Spirit, the airline advises travelers not to go to the airport and has provided guidance on its website regarding refunds or rebooking. Visit https://www.spiritrestructuring.com/ for more information. Several airlines have offered to assist impacted travelers with alternative travel arrangements, where possible.

There is a high risk for severe weather in Central Virginia today. Thunderstorms, destructive winds, and tornadoes are possible. If you are traveling, please check with your airline for potential delays and cancelations. RIC is closely monitoring the conditions and working diligently to address impacts at the airport to keep operations running smoothly. ⛈

RIC is prepped for the inclement weather! Last week was Virginia Severe Weather Awareness Week, an initiative from the U.S. National Weather Service (NWS). On Tuesday, RIC Public Safety participated in a statewide tornado drill to improve readiness, responsiveness, and overall resilience against severe weather.
