Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate the newest addition at the wildflower field—a one-of-a-kind pavilion, with benches and photo spots! Many thanks to artist/muralist Gavin Bird, for bringing the photo spots on the pavilion to life and providing the graphics to the pavilion. His artistry brought whimsy to the metal butterflies, bees and flowers on the pavilion. And he also painted the mural on the west wall of the wildflower field.
Copper Sculptures, Flowood, Miss., created the intricate metalwork structure, featuring a pecan tree (our city tree), as well as wildflowers, butterflies, a dragonfly and a bee. Kudos to Tim Taylor for being the liaison with Explore Ridgeland, the artists and contractors on this project.

Explore Ridgeland was our partner and sponsor of this unique addition to our park! We are so thankful to Chris Chapman and the Explore Ridgeland board for investing in this vision and recognizing the value of natural spaces and public art to community and tourism.

Nancy Batson created a beautiful thematic ribbon for the ribbon cutting and provided the lemonade stand.

Thanks to Kim Cooper, the Explore Ridgeland team, and Keep Ridgeland Beautiful for the great celebration today.

Step outside tonight! May 12, 2025. Full Flower Moon!

Tonight, May 12, the sky will be illuminated by the Full Flower Moon, a name rooted in Native American tradition that reflects the seasonal bloom of wildflowers during this time of year. As Earth's natural satellite reaches its full phase, it will appear strikingly bright and round, rising just after sunset and offering a perfect opportunity for stargazers and photographers alike. This lunar event not only marks the final full moon of spring but also invites a moment of reflection beneath its glowing presence—reminding us of the rhythms of nature and the silent beauty that unfolds above us each month.
