A Summer Sunday Worth Savoring

If you love Bloody Marys, local flavor, and supporting a great cause, make plans to visit the Chattanooga Market this Sunday.

For one afternoon only, six local restaurants and venues will go head-to-head, each serving their own signature Bloody Mary creation. From spicy and savory to bold and unexpected, you'll have the chance to sample them all and discover your favorite.

A $15 tasting ticket includes samples from all six participants, and non-alcoholic versions are available for those who prefer to skip the spirits.

What makes this event even better? Every ticket purchased helps support Friends of Finley and their efforts to enhance the Pavilion with new programmable lighting, creating an even more vibrant experience for future community events.

While you're there, enjoy live music from Shani Palmer and Chattanooguys, browse local vendors, and soak up one of Chattanooga's favorite Sunday traditions.

Featured Participants:
Southside Social
Whiskey Cowgirl
Hotel Indigo
The Upper Bank
Fifty Fifty Wine Bar
The Daily Ration

Whether you're a Bloody Mary enthusiast or just looking for a fun way to spend a summer afternoon, this is an event worth raising a glass to.

Life on Lookout Mountain never gets old!

We are incredibly blessed to call Lookout Mountain home. The breathtaking views, peaceful surroundings, and close-knit community make it a truly special place to live.

One of the things that makes mountain life so interesting is that you never know who—or what—you might run into! A recent unexpected visitor was a very large bear making an appearance on a local property. Talk about a memorable neighbor sighting!

A big thank you to Julia Vaughn for sharing these amazing photos with us. They serve as a great reminder that when you live on Lookout Mountain, nature is never far away.

Have you spotted any wildlife in your neighborhood lately? Share your stories in the comments!

We Found Your Next Great Read!

The McLemore Book Club met last night to discuss Theo of Golden by Allen Levi, and the verdict was unanimous: A+!

If you're looking for a heartwarming, thought-provoking book that stays with you long after you turn the last page, this is it. Several members said it was one of the best books they’ve read in years. It's the kind of story that makes you slow down, pay attention, and see the people around you a little differently. You may even find yourself looking more closely into the eyes of those you know—and those you meet for the first time.

Have you read Theo of Golden? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments. Your review might inspire someone else to pick up this outstanding book.

We're also tagging Allen Levi in hopes that, by some happy miracle, he sees this post and sends a note back to the McLemore Book Club. We want him to know that we are eagerly awaiting the release of Ellen of Golden!

Thank you, Mr. Levi, for writing such a profound and memorable story. And a special thank-you to Jenny Hopkins for leading such a thoughtful and engaging book club discussion. Great books are even better when shared with good friends and a wonderful leader. What a wonderful read—and a wonderful evening!

Lookout Mountain News:

A proposal that has generated a lot of discussion across Lookout Mountain is the planned Rock City gondola system in Flintstone, Georgia.

According to project information, the gondola would allow visitors to park at Blowing Springs Farm in the valley and take a scenic six-minute ride directly to Rock City, reducing the need for vehicles to travel up Ochs Highway and other mountain roads.

Supporters of the project point to several potential benefits:

• Reduced Traffic – The system could remove thousands of vehicles, including motor coaches and school buses, from mountain roads during peak visitation periods.

• Improved Safety & Accessibility – Visitors would have an alternative to navigating steep, winding roads, while also providing easier access for those with mobility challenges.

• Economic Impact – The proposed $30–$40 million investment is expected to create new jobs and generate additional tax revenue for Walker County.

• Environmental Benefits – Fewer vehicles traveling up the mountain could mean reduced emissions and less traffic-related impact on the area's roads and natural resources.

If approved, the gondola would represent one of the most significant transportation and tourism investments on Lookout Mountain in recent years, offering a new way for visitors to experience the mountain while helping reduce roadway congestion and supporting the local economy.

Lookout Mountain continues to grow and evolve, and projects like this reflect ongoing investments in the area's future while preserving what makes the mountain such a special place to live, work, and visit.
