Another new bike rider joins Sacramento ! Congrats to this little dude who had such a positive attitude AND who practiced ahead of his lesson - he was up in no time! We got to practice some more advanced skills thanks to his pre-lesson drills, like making turns, navigating smaller paths, and riding with one hand.
Contact us for private lessons ! We teach all ages, children and adults, and all skill levels and abilities, from those who aren't yet riding to those who ride, but would like a deeper understanding of the rules of the road or to build confidence riding the street.

My favorite day of the whole year - manning the pump track station at Jibe's Kids Bike Party! 
Bike Doc, blender bikes, helmet decorating, races, discounted helmet and bike pumps for sale, pump track stations - it's all there and kids of all ages had a blast. 
Kudos to the team at Jibe for an extremely well organized and executed event. Thank you for the opportunity to support your work - it is a delight :)

California has no respect for seasons.
☀️🚴
Long ride along the American River Bike Trail (ARBT) on the last day in February. Technically still winter (Spring Equinox is 3 weeks away) but the landscape is green and the trees are blossoming. No wildflowers yet!
Discovery Park still flooded so started a bit ahead of Mile Marker 2 and went up to Old Town Folsom - about Mile Marker 28. ARBT = gem of Sacramento! Go walk or ride it today :)

The leaves are changing and the evenings are cooler, which means the Mexican free-tailed bats have finished migrated south for the season. Thus we're reflecting on our favorite ride from this summer - our Bat Bike Tour with the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Young Professionals Group. 🚴‍♀️🦇
This is the fourth time we've ridden out on the Yolo Causeway to watch a quarter-million Mexican Free-Tailed Bats head out for dinner from beneath the bridge at sunset. These  mammals, each weighing less than a nickel, can reach speeds of up to 60 mph and eat their body weight in insects every night.

This October, I had an opportunity to lead several sections for the Earn A Bike Program at JIBE North Natomas in Sacramento. This is a 14-hour course designed to empower adults with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills to make biking an everyday part of their lives.
Over four sessions, participants learned about bike safety, maintenance, commuting solutions, and real-world cycling skills - from navigating traffic to carrying groceries and gear efficiently.
On our final day — which also happened to be my birthday!! — we celebrated our graduation with 13 rad participants who are now ready to be bike role models in their community AND birthday cupcakes :) 🎂 I couldn’t imagine a better way to celebrate than surrounded by people who are excited to ride more, ride safer, and inspire others to do the same.
