Chimney Rock State Park | 40 mins from Downtown Saluda

The park is best known for its towering 535-million-year-old rock formation, where panoramic views stretch across Hickory Nut Gorge and Lake Lure. Make your way to the top by trail or elevator, then explore miles of hiking trails throughout the park.

Don’t miss the Hickory Nut Falls Trail, which leads to the base of the 404-foot Hickory Nut Falls, one of the tallest waterfalls east of the Mississippi. Along the way, you’ll find dramatic rock formations, mountain views, and plenty of places to stop and take it all in. 🌿

About 35 minutes from downtown Saluda, Ho**er Falls is an easy addition to your mountain getaway. Located in DuPont State Recreational Forest, a short, family-friendly hike follows the Little River to the beautiful 12-foot waterfall. This is the perfect trail for families, pups, or anyone looking for plenty of scenery without a strenuous hike.

Visiting on a warm day? Pack your swimsuit! Ho**er Falls is one of the few designated areas in DuPont where swimming is permitted. The calmer, shallow areas downstream from the falls offer a refreshing place to cool off, splash around, or relax beside the river.

Bring a picnic and make an afternoon of it, or connect with nearby trails and waterfalls for a longer day exploring DuPont. Then, head back to Saluda for dinner, shopping, live music, and a relaxing evening in our little mountain town.
