For nearly 2,000 years, visitors have walked between these columns on their way into one of the most remarkable buildings ever constructed.

The Pantheon was completed around 126 AD and remains the world’s largest unreinforced concrete dome. Even more impressive, the dome’s diameter and its height from the floor are nearly identical, creating a perfectly balanced sphere within the structure.

Ancient Roman engineers accomplished this without modern machinery, proving that great art and great engineering often go hand in hand.

We continue our journey through Rome this week with a stop at St. Peter’s Basilica. Technically located in Vatican City.

Looking up inside St. Peter’s Basilica is one of those moments that makes you feel incredibly small—and incredibly inspired.

Rising more than 450 feet above the floor, the magnificent dome was designed by Michelangelo and remains one of the greatest achievements in architectural history.

What many visitors don’t realize is that the letters circling the base of the dome appear modest from below, but each one is nearly 7 feet tall—about the height of an average adult!

Whether you’re an artist, musician, architect, historian, or simply a traveler, St. Peter’s Basilica is a reminder of what human creativity, faith, and craftsmanship can accomplish when generations work together toward a common vision.

This week, we visit the eternal city of Rome and our first stop is the Roman Colosseum: The World’s First Mega-Venue

Long before modern stadiums, concert arenas, and sporting events, Rome’s Colosseum was entertaining crowds of more than 50,000 people. Completed nearly 2,000 years ago in AD 80, this architectural masterpiece featured numbered entrances, assigned seating sections, crowd-control systems, and even a retractable canopy to provide shade for spectators.

At its peak, the Colosseum hosted gladiator contests, theatrical productions, animal exhibitions, and public celebrations that drew visitors from across the Roman Empire. Its innovative design was so advanced that many modern stadiums still use similar concepts today.

Standing inside the Colosseum is a powerful reminder that great performances and shared experiences have been bringing people together for thousands of years.
