Mexico Liveaboards

This was my second trip on the Rocio del Mar, and once again Mexico Liveaboards was fantastic.

In April, I came with my two sons on a trip to Socorro, and my 12-year-old daughter was incredibly jealous. So this time, it was her turn.

I came back with Skylar and my wife Lisa for a week of diving in the Sea of Cortez.

We arranged for a private guide, Leo, who worked with Lisa and Skylar to complete their PADI AOW cert during the trip. Leo was great! It ended up being the perfect combination of training and just enjoying some nice dives together. By the end of the week, I think Lisa had deployed her SMB more times than I have.

The sea lions and whale sharks were amazing; the macro stuff was great- seahorses, nudibranchs, etc., and Lisa and Skylar both did their first night dives on the trip. During the night dives, it was great to see octopus out and about, and during a safety stop we turned off our flashlights, waved our hands through the water, and watched the bioluminescence light up around us.

Just like before, the entire crew was wonderful and made us feel welcome, well fed, and safe, including the panga drivers. The best panga driver is Everardo!

But what made the trip great was sharing it with my wife and daughter. One of the other divers mentioned being jealous that I was there diving with my family, and it made me appreciate even more how special it is to share something like this with them.

Another fantastic trip with Mexico Liveaboards, and another family adventure we’ll be talking about for a long time.

Want to go to Clarion Island? This is the fourth island of the Archipielago de Revillagigedo. A space just became available aboard Quino del Mar on February 16-28, 2027 (single male share). This is a 13-day, 12-night trip with 9 days of diving.

13-DAY ITINERARY

Below is our planned diving itinerary. We coordinate with other boats in the area, and weather and sea conditions can sometimes require adjustments. If special wildlife sightings arise, we may suggest alternative dive options to make the most of the experience. One day at Isla Socorro, we must check in with the naval station. On this day, three dives are scheduled.

Day 1 - Board at 5pm

Day 2 - Day at Sea

Day 3 - Isla San Benedicto / 4 dives

Day 4 - Isla San Benedicto/ 4 dives

Day 5 - Isla Socorro / 4 dives

Day 6 - Isla Roca Partida / 2 dives - leave for Clarion after the second dive

Day 7 - Isla Clarion / 3-4 dives (depends on the weather during the crossing)

Day 8 - Isla Clarion / 2 dives - leave Clarion after the second dive

Day 9 - Isla Roca Partida / 3 dives

Day 10 - Isla Socorro / 4 dives

Day 11 - Open - we will go wherever conditions are best, i.e., San Benedicto or Socorro / 4 dives

Day 12 - Day at Sea

Day 13 - Disembark at approximately 8:30 am in San Jose Del Cabo

$5795 per person, double occupancy

The above price includes all taxes, port fees, meals, beverages, tanks, weights, complimentary beer, and wine. The only things not included are

National Park Fee - 3760 pesos per day in the park (33840 pesos)*
Nitrox Fee - $140
Transfers to and from the boat
Crew gratuity (typically 10%-15% of the fare)
