A lot of things have been put into prospective for me over the past couple of weeks. With the unexpected tornado in Nashville devastating thousands and now COVID-19 disrupting the ENTIRE world… In normal life, it’s so easy to get bogged down with such small things, things that your mind can make seem so important. They can be the cause of so much stress, anxiety, or pain when at the end of the day, do they really even matter?
During times like these, it makes you step back and look at life from a different view.
The morning after the tornado, when I was walking around through the damage, I kept thinking “How fickle is life??” These people went to bed last night, living their normal day to day life, and they woke up this morning to complete devastation. Family members and/or loved ones ripped from their lives, homes destroyed, or businesses that the have poured years of their lives and savings into - completely gone. All in a matter of minutes… Now we are experiencing a similar situation that is bringing the whole world to it’s knees. It’s truly unbelievable. Boy, how quickly can things change?
Nothing is permanent, whether good or bad, but that’s ok! Life would be so boring if it was… It’s times like this that allow you to take a step back and look at your life to understand what’s really important. Happy to be alive and healthy, with loving family and friends, in a world filled with beauty! Find joy in the simple things - a friendly smile from a stranger, a walk in the woods, a conversation with a loved one.
If you’re going through hard times now, or in the upcoming weeks and months, just remember that life is a long journey. Things that can feel devastating today will only be a blip in the full timeline of your life. If you stay positive and keep pressing forward, over time, they will become distant challenges that you’ve overcome, and in turn, you will be stronger and better because of them.
Anyway, that’s my rant for the day :) Stay healthy out there friends!
