My heart is heavy for my friend (Morgan) and her family tonight. I have known Morgan since she was a tiny little girl living down the street from me in San Diego. Morgan, along with her mom and dad just joined me on my Croatia/Slovenia trip a couple of months ago. She was delightful, and it was such a treat to spend time with her as a grown woman! Sadly, I learned this afternoon that her home was burned to the ground in the Palisades Fire. Thankfully, Morgan, her husband (Tim), and their children were able to evacuate and are safe and sound right now... but they lost EVERYTHING, and their entire community is decimated. If you're not already offering prayers to those affected by these horrific fires, please do. If you are... please add Morgan to your thoughts and prayers.

Love you, Morgan! You are in my thoughts and prayers. I'm here... just whistle!

Periquito Adventures & Travel’s Autumn Jewels tour continues! Since my last post we’ve conquered the Istrian Peninsula of Croatia! We got all tucked into a glorious hotel on the Croatian Riviera in the village of Opatija… the perfect home base to explore this region!

We explored the romantic seaside village of Rovinj and stopped for an olive oil tasting class at Chiavalon Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil Estate (magnificent). Then we soaked in the history of Pula’s 2000-year-old amphitheater/colosseum before ending the day with a private farm-based cooking class that morphed into a spontaneous dance party when Chef Goron gave us access to his extensive vinyl collection! Somehow we managed to make ravioli, fettuccini, and beef ragu from scratch. It was a delicious blast!!!

Thanks to our day-guide (Irina Načinovič), our amazing driver (Dino), and Chef Goran for a brilliant day!

The good times are rolling right along on my Autumn Jewels tour of Croatia! While in Split, we enjoyed a glorious, fun-filled day on a private boat cruising around the islands off of Split! We’ve visited the spectacular treasure that is Plitvice Lakes National Park, and spent the night last night in the most gorgeous accommodations in the park. Now we are headed to Opatija, on the Croatian Riviera! Stand by for my next update!

This post is filled with joy and gratitude for the 10 beautiful women who were just in Tuscany and Umbria with me for another Periquito Adventures & Travel 12-day romp through Italy!

This trip inluded:
- Private 7-bedroom villa and transportation
- Visits to several hill towns and villages
- Private tour of the Sberna Ceramic factory in Deruta
- Visits to wineries and a private wine-cave tour
- An amazing dinner with the winemakers at Il Cellese in Chianti
- Fun day driving vintage Fiats through the Tuscan hills
- Incredible private cooking class aCasale Alessandri in Umbria, with Chef Frederico Alessandri himself!
- Super fun pizza-making contest at the villa with Chef Franco
- Full day with a private guide in Florence
- Morning visit to see my friend Jessica and her pack of wolves
- A 5,000-foot hot-air balloon flight over Assisi
- Full day at the 5-star spa at Castel Monastery in Tuscany
- Dinner and birthday celebration at La Scuderia (a restaurant in the middle of nowhere, ran by 3 generations of beautiful women)
- Amazing olive oil and sheep-cheese presentations
- Countless helpings of gelato, limoncello, and a variety of "spritzes" here and there.
- A fun golf-cart tour of Rome at sunset in a light rain... magical to see the lights of the city come on all around us!
