34 years of good food, community, and culture 🥢❤️

Dr. Chan built Jasmine Seafood from the ground up, and it’s become exactly what San Diego needed. But longevity in this city means you’ve lived through more than what ends up on the menu. Hate doesn’t just affect the people it targets, it ripples through entire communities, and we know speaking out isn’t always easy.

That’s why I’ve partnered with . The first statewide, multilingual, non-emergency reporting program where anyone can reach out and get support, big or small, and be connected to real community resources .

Matcha spots have been popping up all over San Diego lately, but not all of them are worth the trip. This one, though, might actually change your mind 💭🍵

Not only do they serve matcha, but they also specialize in slow-drip Vietnamese phin coffee, so you get the best of both worlds in one spot. What I really enjoy most are their creative Asian-inspired takes on these drinks. Some standouts worth trying are the Pandan Matcha, Double Matcha, and Banana 53.

One thing I do feel is missing is the human interaction. You order through a kiosk, and once your name is called, you simply pick up your drinks, so you don’t really get that personal touch. Other than that, whenever I’m craving matcha, this spot hits the spot for me.

Tips: I highly recommend ordering your drinks online ahead of time to avoid the long lines.

Sichuan Hot Pot + Skewers on Convoy 🍲🔥

Yintang Spicy Hot Pot serves authentic Sichuan-style hot pot with broths that bring a savory, flavorful, and numbing heat. But don’t worry, it’s actually not that spicy. You first grab a bowl and tongs, add your favorite toppings, pick your broth, and they take it to the back and cook it for you. They’ll bring it out once it’s ready.

The beef bone broth is rich and flavorful, or go with the tomato beef bone soup for something a little lighter. I always get their skewers too. The beef and lamb are packed with seasoning, juicy on the inside, and crispy on the outside.

It’s $13.99/lb and one of my favorite sichuan-style hot pot spots in San Diego.

Short road trip idea without leaving San Diego County 🌞🚙🧳

I’m always looking for getaways from San Diego, but luckily is only an hour drive away. I’d say it’s the perfect escape for all ages! You can bring your kids, family, and friends.

Reasons why I love this resort:

💦 The pools - One of the most insane lazy rivers and swim up bar setups you’ll find. The waterfalls, the energy, and the DJs. You can rent a cabana, order poolside bites, and spend a whole day here. There are two sides dedicated for families and the other for adults only.

🛏️ The Dive Inn - Newly renovated rooms with a fresh look and views right over the pool. Such a glow up from the older rooms.

🎰 The newly renovated High Limit Gaming room - gaming floor features 100 slot machines, including 11 bar-top units. The private Table Games room includes favorites like Double Deck Blackjack, Shoe Blackjack, Baccarat, Pai Gow and Texas Hold’em. Must be 21+ to play.

🍽️ Hell’s Kitchen - I don’t think you can ever go wrong with Hell’s Kitchen. It’s an icon and so are some of his dishes like the Beef Wellington. I do wish the workers could get into character though 😂 Highly recommend making a reservation!

There’s so much more to do, but these are just some highlights from my stay. Save this for your next summer escape 🙌

First Chinese Head Spa in San Diego?! 💆🏻‍♀️✨

Tou Dao Tang Hair & Scalp Head Spa uses over 30 fresh herbs prepared daily for a therapeutic scalp treatment rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It’s a practice perfected in China for over 30 years. The experience included a scalp analysis, head massage, herbal scalp treatments, deep cleansing, and a blow dry to finish.

First-time clients can get a full 60-minute treatment starting at $89, which is such a steal. They even ended the experience with complimentary tea and nostalgic childhood snacks. Highly recommend for the ultimate self-care day!

North County San Diego’s Underrated gem for authentic Japanese ramen! 🍜🔥

Ramen Mik is one of the most underrated spots in San Marcos and not enough people are talking about it! Owner Noriyuki Mori has created something truly special out here in North County. They have Sapporo miso ramen and Hokkaido-style flavors, using a Chintan Tonkotsu style soup — a clear, flavorful broth that’s a completely different experience from the creamy Paitan Tonkotsu you find everywhere else. We were blown away by the quality and the love that goes into every bowl.

Everything we tried:
🍜 Tokyo Show You Ramen
🌶️ Me So Hot Ramen
🥟 Pork Gyoza
🍛 Katsu Curry
🐙 Takoyaki
🍺 Japanese Beer
