Travel Tip: Sometimes it's good to be last minute. I just booked a condo for 4th of July Weekend in Mammoth Lakes. I booked it a week in advance & got a great deal. Only $350 for three nights! That's only $117 a night. It was a 3 bedroom, 3 bath condo with a full kitchen, washer & dryer and beautiful views from the balcony and 2 patios.

Here are a couple of good hotel offers for a staycation. The Hotel Del Coronado has rates starting at $259 per night this summer. Two night minimum during the week and three night minimum on the weekend. The La Costa Resort and spa rates start at $199 per night and include the following: • Accommodations at La Costa
• $30 Daily Dining Credit (per adult)
• $45 Daily Spa Credit (per adult)
• $90 Daily Sport Credit (per adult). Valid toward tee times or golf course practice range or tennis court time with rental racquet and can of balls.
The La Costa rate needs to be booked by June 9, 2013.
Both of these resorts are amazingly beautiful!

Another great road trip for the summer is Mammoth Lakes. I know most people think of Mammoth as a winter getaway. It's great in the summer too! You can rent a condo to stay in. It's great to have a condo so you have a full kitchen. that way you don't have to eat every meal out so you save money. Plus you have more room to spread out in than in a hotel. The prices are cheaper during the summer too. There is a ton to do in Mammoth. There are a bunch of lakes and creeks for fishing. There are miles and miles of hiking and biking trails. You can take the gondola to the top of Mammoth Mountain. Yosemite National Park and Mono Lake are close by. There is also a really cool ghost town called Bodie not far away. How about a road trip this summer? One place that we really, really like to go is Zion National Park. It's in Utah about 2 1/2 hours past Las Vegas. It's a beautiful park. You can stay in either Springdale or at the lodge in the park. Springdale is great, it's right at the entrance to the park. It even has a free town shuttle that makes various stops in the town and takes you to the entrance to the park. There are amazing hikes, including hiking the Narrows. The hotel we always stay at starts at only $159 a night. Even less if you have a AAA card. Check out my photo album if you want to see how beautiful it is there.
