This sweet old lady fed the street cats regularly. The first time I saw her I was so touched and genuinely wanted to tell her what a kind heart she has. She only spoke French and Arabic and couldn’t read my translation. I wasn’t able to tell her in words, but through gestures I think she understood me.

This is Bahja - the simple act of kindness that shows up in unexpected places in Morocco. It’s why our trips leave room to actually notice the place you’re in, not just move through it.

Tipping in Morocco can feel confusing. These are practical ranges, not fixed rules.

A few things to know:

• Keep small bills and coins in Moroccan dirhams
• At a simple café or local restaurant, a few dirhams may be enough
• At nicer restaurants, 5–10% is common if service isn’t included
• Leave housekeeping tips daily since the staff may change
• Guide tips are per guest, while driver tips are generally from the group
• Desert camp tips are usually shared among the team
• If someone agrees to pose for a photo, 5–10 MAD is usually appropriate. Street performers may expect 10–20 MAD, so ask and agree first

You do not need to tip for unsolicited directions, shopping, poor service, or interactions with officials. Skip photo opportunities involving captive snakes or monkeys.

Tips are appreciated, never required. Save this for your Morocco trip and follow for more practical Morocco advice. 🇲🇦
